Strange Mesh behavier on 2.4GHz wifi?

I have some experience with changing this setting and using various 2.4 GHz devices (ex. small IoT devices). In my case I discovered that if one device is not able to get a connection better than that DB value, it sometimes might eventually become offline and need to be rebooted.

Adding RT-AX86U pro or AX11000 pro to existing setup

Seamless Roaming is only supported under the use of Omada Controllers, and requires that clients need to support 802.11k/v and may require additional set up. Performance may vary depending on the client device. https://www.tp-link.com/us/business-networking/ceiling-mount-access-point/eap245/...

XT8 - Best firmware for V2 Hardware? Is this the source of all my issues?

Unfortunately in my case any gnuton release made no difference in backhaul stability (AP mode).

I have had my fill of the XT8 ignoring the 5GHz-2 backhaul as an AiMesh node...

My wireless XT8s in my mesh do have that backhaul option:

Odd ASUS ZenWiFi XT9 + IoT Issue

You should better use one of the above IP assignment to avoid disconnections caused by periodic IP negotiations.

Asus ZenWIFI XT8 AX6600, Wired Backhaul and Unmanaged Switch question

If you are using the main XT8 in AP mode, you can use any 2.5 Gbps unmanaged/managed switch to interconnect all your XT8 nodes (even the main XT8 can use its 2.5 Gbps port in AP mode). I connect my AiMesh network in this way. Otherwise, if your main XT8 is in router mode, you can use any 1 Gbps...

I have had my fill of the XT8 ignoring the 5GHz-2 backhaul as an AiMesh node...

As I'm using the AiMesh in AP mode, no VPN settings are available on the main node. To connect to Internet I use a business grade VPN multiwan firewall/router.

I have had my fill of the XT8 ignoring the 5GHz-2 backhaul as an AiMesh node...

I originally had a 6 nodes AiMesh network (AP mode, 1 main XT8 and 5 XT8 nodes, mixed wired and wireless backhaul). Tired of backhaul instability regardless of any firmware version, about 6 months ago I replaced the XT8 main node with a GT-AX11000 Pro. Since then all backhauls are stable and...

ZenWiFi XT8 as AiMesh node - how to select 5GHz-1 channel?

In my XT8 Mesh with wireless backhaul, on laptops with 160 MHz AX wifi card I have set their wifi cards to connect directly to the backhaul network, with no problems using this connection for these clients.:)

ZenWiFi AX XT8 connect via ethernet to TV securely

As for the official Asus support, article published just a week ago (2023/10/11), the only models that currently support VLANs after having created a guest network are: RT-AX86U Pro, RT-AX88U Pro GT-AX11000 Pro, GT-AXE16000, GT-AX6000 ZenWiFi_Pro_ET12, ZenWiFi_Pro_XT12 ExpertWiFi Series...

ZenWiFi AX XT8 connect via ethernet to TV securely

Is the ethernet cable going to your TV connected directly to an XT8 node LAN port? If so, you only need a wireless bridge located just side by side to your XT8 node, and in this way the wireless connection XT8-bridge would be at the maximum speed (AC or AX), no better cable solution.;) And if I...

Can't block clients from connecting to a mesh node

This might happen (I too experienced it) because what appears to humans to be a weaker signal actually provides a better, stable and clean wifi connection to the device. IMHO, if a device automatically switches to a more far node with a weaker signal, it knows why, so let it choose by itself...;)

ZenWiFi AX XT8 connect via ethernet to TV securely

Check your TV ethernet connection: generally TV have only a 100 Mbps ethernet connection speed, so it might be better to use a wifi connection, even if only wifi N. Otherwise, you can setup a wifi bridge (a cheap device), just near the TV or at the other end of the TV ethernet cable (so you...

Does binding a device to a node in AiMesh actually do anything?

Ok. If this hard binding is crucial for you, you could switch from an XT8 mesh to a repeater configuration, and in this case it would be possible to ban the device MAC address from the unwanted AP.

Does binding a device to a node in AiMesh actually do anything?

Tried this? Wireless - Roaming Block List You can add devices into roaming deny list, and the devices will not be roamed between AiMesh nodes.
