    Malware damaging ASUS routers?

Yes sir, I do indeed. However for those concerned about the issue and wanting a solution that is available now, folks that might have been considering but not taken the leap to ASUS Merlin FW, or do not know about it but are willing to give it a whirl, I do not think it unreasonable to make...

Recent Security Patches — Still Missing

I'm a bit miffed the XD4 now has a patch but the XD6 does not... :-). But the RT-AX86U (ASUS) FW not being updated yet is the biggest mystery. Yep, I have the Asus Merlin patch, so not too fussed.

    Malware damaging ASUS routers?

Unless you run Asus Merlin FW; then there is a patched FW available for the RT-AX86U. Direct link here. [EDIT] I see bennor already posted it above.

Nightmare for AI mesh pairing with RT-AX88U

Sorry, was not as clear as I could have been, I should have said I set the Backhaul Priority to AUTO (which chooses dynamically between Ethernet or Wifi). I left the Ethernet Backhaul Mode switch at default, which for me, was OFF, but the Backhaul connects via Ethernet anwyay. Hopefully that's...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.8_4 is now available

Had exact same problem on a remote unit. Had to SSH in using Wireguard (as Tailscale is on the USB SSD) and reboot it a few times using the CLI, then it came back. Had me worried for a while. Otherwise all good, many thanks to RMerlin.

Nightmare for AI mesh pairing with RT-AX88U

Personally, I found this setting problematic for my 3 nodes. I left it on Auto (different screen under AIMesh and that worked well. It chose Ethernet anyway, as they are wired, but found the nodes better and they stayed connected.

Recent Security Patches — Still Missing

Hmm I think you’re right. Fortunately I use them as Nodes only.

    [ 3004_388.8_3 Build(s) ] available build(s)

I think RMerlin clarified this in a post above?

Recent Security Patches — Still Missing

I have XD6 units and there is an ASUS update for that. Not sure about the others though. [EDIT] As pointed out below, the referenced FW does not include the patch for the AICloud security issue.

Recent Security Patches — Still Missing

I am equally puzzled by the lack of an RT-AX86U update given its popularity. Oddly there is an AsusMerlin alpha FW with a security patch for amongst others, the RT-AX86U, so would I be correct in assuming RMerlin got a GPL for that model?

ZenWiFi XD5 Mesh Nodes (2 out of 4) are Flashing Green!

Great news, best outcome for you! Still would have been interesting to know if resetting using one of the above methods would have taken you a step further. All good.

ZenWiFi XD5 Mesh Nodes (2 out of 4) are Flashing Green!

Have you tried a proper hard reset using WDS? The linked approach should be for the XD5 based on the list. If no go then try rescue mode (not sure if works in XD5 Routers though).

ZenWiFi XD5 Mesh Nodes (2 out of 4) are Flashing Green!

There's a recent FW update 13Nov24; maybe try that first? 3.0.0.4.388_24011 Similarly, ther's a very recent update for the RT-AX86U Pro (your main Router)? 3.0.0.6_102_34336 [NOTE: 3.0.0.6_102 (vs 3.0.0.4.388) which is a significant update] And newer FW for the old XD4 Nodes :)...

    Malware damaging ASUS routers?

Agree; it seems like all the other Routers are getting updates, yet (one of) the most popular Models (based on the weekly no. of Merlin Downloads alone, not ASUS) is not ... yet.

Looking for feedback: Anyone considering AiCloud important to them?

I think folks getting their feet wet with Routers capabilities might try AICloud out initially (as I did, a long time ago), so you might get 'I use it' responses from new users or less tech minded ones…. …but you’re right, with VPNs becoming much more mainstream and easier to set up (read you...

    Malware damaging ASUS routers?

Whilst disabling ASUS DDNS can’t hurt, I asked a question earlier in the thread about which AICloud services should be disabled and whether Asus DDNS was one of them; here is Tech9's response.

    Malware damaging ASUS routers?

Yikes thanks and whilst I ackowledge the error and your skills, please can you not quote where I currently live in this forum ta, that'd be appreciated; that and the quote with my ddns (which still has that url).

    Malware damaging ASUS routers?

I tried to ask in one of the threads referred to above, but will try again as I think it important folks know what to disable. Is there a definitive list of what exactly disabling AiCloud entails and specifically whether it includes disabling asuscomm.com ddns? For my case, I have all of...

RT-AX88U maxing out a core and regularly showing 60+ MB/s upload

That’s interesting, thanks. You’re right, many use cases differ, but I do it because of what I read here: https://tailscale.com/kb/1122/wireguard-dynamic-ip and saw here (it’s Ubiquiti: but same principle for WG). It’s what attracted me to TS initially, but I do like WG as a backup, which...

RT-AX88U maxing out a core and regularly showing 60+ MB/s upload

Quick Q; when folks are saying they "Disabled AIcloud", what exactly are they disabling? I do not have any of the services on, I do not allow WAN access to my Router, but (via Tailscale and sometimes Wireguard) I access my Routers remotely using a VPN. Tailscale does NOT need a DDNS, but...
