Asus RT-AC87U Slow ping on 5ghz

I have an Asus RT-AC87U router as the main router on my network. I also have two Asus RT-AC66U routers that are hardwired back to the 87U that are acting as wireless access points. I get a much slower ping rate to other devices on my network when connected wireless to the 87U than I do when...

    Netgear Gs105 Dropping Packets

I swapped it out with my old Asus RT-AC66R router and the situation is MUCH improved. I'm still seeing some dropped packets but nothing crazy like before. I would think that having some dropped packets while streaming hidef games across my network via a wireless 5ghz signal is expected...

    Netgear Gs105 Dropping Packets

Thanks for the reply. The switch is showing full gigabit connectivity. Both leds above the port (above all ports actually) are lit. I'm running Merlin's firmware on my router and it also shows 1000 full duplex on the port that this switch is connected to. Should I monitor these leds...

    Netgear Gs105 Dropping Packets

I think I need a new network switch. I've been chasing down a network gremlin for a few days and I think I've finally found it. But my knowledge of networking is strong enough for me to ensure that I solve the problem the first time. So... my problem is that I'm trying to stream games from...

RT-ACC6R Crashes/Reboots while using Nvidia Gamestream

Quick update. I broke down today and bout the Asus RT-AC86U as a last resort. It worked!! I can stream flawlessly on max settings now. I suppose the AC66R was just getting overloaded!

RT-ACC6R Crashes/Reboots while using Nvidia Gamestream

I'm at a loss now. I've tried every setting that I know of and my router keeps crashing. I've complete unistalled and reinstalled the gamestream software and I also did a clean install of my video card driver. No dice. Eventually a gamestreaming session will crash and reboot my router...

Asus RT-AC66R Streaming - Event Log

Well, my luck has run out. I can't seem to stream anything right now for more than 5 minutes. But... I may have another theory on what's going on. Currently, my wife is streaming a YouTube video on her Chromebook and we having music streaming to two Sonos players in my kids' rooms so I'm...

Asus RT-AC66R Streaming - Event Log

The Shield Tablet is pretty cool as well. Better hardware in there and therfore a better streaming experience. Virtually no controller lag while streaming which boggles my mind. The only reason I have these devices is because I have 2 kids under 2 years old. So I have to get creative on m...

Asus RT-AC66R Streaming - Event Log

I still getting an occasional event log entry but it's not crashing the router and I'm getting solid streaming service. Fingers crossed that it continues to work!

Asus RT-AC66R Streaming - Event Log

I think you nailed it!! I'm still testing but it's looking promising so far. With AMPDU Aggregation disabled I received the event logs and the glitchy streaming. With AMPDU Aggregation enabled the event log entries weren't present and the stream was very smooth. I also noticed that if I...

Asus RT-AC66R Streaming - Event Log

I've been trying to track down an issue where my router crashes and reboots while streaming a game from my PC (wired) to my Shield Portable (wireless on 5ghz) and I believe I have identified entries in the log that correlate to the issues that are causing the crash. Whenever my stream...

RT-ACC6R Crashes/Reboots while using Nvidia Gamestream

Yes, this is what I meant to say. Couldn't figure out how to edit the title. Thanks, I'll check into this!

RT-ACC6R Crashes/Reboots while using Nvidia Gamestream

I moved my fan around and for my temps to 50/51 and even after a crash/reboot the temps are still showing the same so I would think of it were an overheating issue that they would show significantly higher after voting back up.

RT-ACC6R Crashes/Reboots while using Nvidia Gamestream

Update... I don't think this is an overheating issue. My router is showing temp of 52/54 under non-streaming conditions and if never guess above 53/55 while streaming. But it still crashed on me after about 45 minutes of fame streaming. I kept refreshing the page to see the updated temps...

RT-ACC6R Crashes/Reboots while using Nvidia Gamestream

Thanks. I'll monitor to see if it's heat related but I do believe that you are onto something because once a crash happens and I allow the router to reboot and then try to resume streaming a game the next crash occurs relatively quickly. The first crash usually seems to take longer and...

RT-ACC6R Crashes/Reboots while using Nvidia Gamestream

I'm having an issue where my router will suddenly crash and reboot while using Nvidia's Gamestream for streaming games to my Shield Portable from a PC on my network. It works brilliantly but then suddenly the router crashes and forces a reboot. I've tried a myriad of things all without...

    VPN and Network Shares

Just one more follow-up. I was still able to successfully use my network shares over the VPN connection without Samba support enabled on the router simply by assigning the network computer housing the shares to a fixed IP address and then mapping my network shares by IP address instead of by...

    VPN and Network Shares

Guys... I think those "Buggy" errors are problematic after all. My network kept crashing while streaming media across it so I started trying to figure out what was going on... here's a copy of a post I did in another thread on the topic: Enabling Network (samba) Place support in your VPN...

    Router Rebooting on its own

Figured it out. Enabling Network (samba) Place support in your VPN settings floods the router with error messages. This is a known issue and one that was thought to be harmless but its not. When streaming media over your network it appears to overwhelm the router and it will reboot...

    Router Rebooting on its own

So this is the second night in a row that this has happened. We will just suddenly loose signal and then it comes back 30-60 seconds later. When I go look in the log, everything prior to the event has a date of 12/31? Here's the log of the even right as it happened (I blocked out the...
