    RT-AC88U Randomly Drops 5GHz Frequency

On the other thread, the solution was to drop the channel bandwidth from 80mhz to 40mhz. https://www.snbforums.com/threads/random-net-loss-5g-going-down.37657/page-5

Random net loss, 5g going down

Almost 9 days and still going. It has been a while since (around the beginning of the year maybe) I have had the router run for longer than 6 days. Great find! Just out of curiosity what exactly are we sacrificing for stability? Thanks again!

    RT-AC88U Randomly Drops 5GHz Frequency

This problem is not specific to AC88. It is happening on the AC68 as well. https://www.snbforums.com/threads/random-net-loss-5g-going-down.37657/page-4#post-322790

It went down again. Here is the last line in the log: kernel: Emergency Sync complete Anybody have an idea what can be causing this?

Random net loss, 5g going down

The change in settings did not fix the problem. This is getting frustrating. It seems to go down about once a week. Also, it is abundantly clear that it is a router level problem. I have 30 devices that all lose connection when this happens.

Random net loss, 5g going down

I have the same problem as interconnect. Not only does 5ghz stop working but wired connections as well. I have changed the settings as you recommended. I will keep you posted.

Random net loss, 5g going down

I am having exactly the same problems as you. I thought I could fix the problem by setting up a daily reboot through the Admin page. As it turns out, that isn't working either. Did rolling back to 380.63_2 work out? It is so random how 380.64_2 and 380.65 stop working requiring a reboot...

Random net loss, 5g going down

Same problem here also. Rolling back fixed it for me too. Hopefully, the problem will get fixed in 380.66.

    Transmission...for Asuswrt/Merlin

I have followed the instructions here to get Transmission to go through my VPN. It all works great. However, I am using IPV6 tunnel, and so Transmission is revealing my tunnel IPV6. I have set the line in settings.json "bind-address-ipv6": "fe80::" But it doesn't seem to work. My IPV6...

    Overclocking RT-AC56U

Just to let you know, I bought the RT-AC56U about two weeks ago. I tried the method on the first page. Everytime, I tried to up the RAM frequency, the changes wouldn't hold. The changes only stuck if I kept the RAM at 533mhz. So basically only the three possibilities worked: 800,533 of...

    Download Manager through VPN?

SOLVED! My solution is to set up Client 1 with selective routing and Client 2 that routes all traffic through the VPN. When I am not dloading, I use Client 1 and when I am I use Client 2. This site helped me see what IP address is being pulled when using torrents...

Does anyone know how to make sure the Download Manager goes through the VPN? Bearing in mind I have my router set up with selective routing. Thanks!

Time Machine runs out of space

The male for USB 3.0 is the same as USB 2.0. I plugged the male for USB 3.0 into the female of the USB 2.0 extension. Cheers!

Time Machine runs out of space

SOLVED! As it turns out, you cannot use a USB 2.0 extension cable with a USB 3.0 enclosure. DOH! Everything is working as expected. Thanks.

Time Machine runs out of space

Yes. It wasn't the disk. I narrowed it down to either the hard drive case or the usb extension cable. I changed both and my macbook managed to do a complete backup (through the network cable). Now, I am seeing if it will work through wifi. PS I was wondering if the RT-AC56 can run...
