Random net loss, 5g going down

I have the exact same thing. After boot everything is ok for a couple of days. After that de 5G SSID seems to disappear...
 
My AC88U also got this problem, sometimes the 5G disappears and I'm forced to make some changes on 5G WIFI setting in order to make it restart the WIFI part or reboot the router.
From my observation, the 5G would likely drop after using 5G to download large files, though I'm not 100% sure about this.

I'm using the version 380.65, with AC88U A5 revision, which is said to have different chips BCM4366E instead of BCM4366.
 
I have the same problem on my RT-AC87U using 5GHZ band as it would stop working until I reboot the router, but the 2.4GHZ band doesn't have any problems.
 
When i have installed the last firmware and i ping the router from my laptop with 5 ghz i have a lot of drop. every 3 ping i los one (see screenshot)

I have done the configuration. The issue was better when it was on 380.64_2, but still happened. I upgraded yesterday to the new 380.65_2 and it's already dropped 4 times today. I'm at my wits end. It is sooo frustrating. I'm in now way blaming Merlin. This was happening before I started using Merlin. It's been slightly more stable since I have. I've ruled out heat. I'm not taxing the router by any stretch of the imagination. 15 clients maybe across both 2.4 and 5g? No huge files usually. 2.4 is never affected, just the 5.

Someone mentioned turning down the transmit power. I'm willing to so so, but am not positive of the steps needed to do so.

EDIT: After looking under Wireless->Professional, I don't see the TX Power setting. Assuming it was removed in the more recent builds?

Out of curiosity, is anyone else who is seeing this issue running a Killer network card? I've just recently noticed that the network will be fine, sometimes for days, but will go down soon after I start my laptop that has the killer 1525 in it. Some searching shows others having issues with Asus routers, but nothing specific.
 
Might be something specific to my setup. 5g had been fine for a day. Turned on the laptop and it disappeared twice in an hour. Turned off the laptop and it's been fine since.
 
Just an update for anyone else who might run into this. Tested a couple more times with my laptop. Network would be stable for hours/days. Turned on laptop and 5g would disappear within an hour each time. Replaced the Killer 1525 in my laptop with an Intel 8265 and haven't had a 5g issue since.

Most likely some kind of driver issue. Alienware's (Dell) last drivers for the card were from 2015 and still have issues. Drivers directly from the Killer site wouldn't work (50/50 chance the card would come up at all), and Windows 10 default drivers were what it was running when all the issues happened.
 
I would suggest rolling back even further; I can confirm 5G drops on 380.64_2. Has happened a couple of times since I updated to 380.64_2... after a few weeks the 5 Ghz wifi goes dead (didn't check 2.4 Ghz network) and all internet stops working to wired clients as well. Haven't updated past 380.64_2 so I know this version definitely has issues too. Going to roll back to 380.63_2.

Havn't updated past 380.64_2 so I know this version definitely has issues too. I have a RT-AC68U and my last known good firmware was 380.63_2. I'm going to roll back to that.

Did rolling back to 380.63_2 work out? It is so random how 380.64_2 and 380.65 stop working requiring a reboot.

is everyone sure its not device related? i was having 5g dropouts untill i changed my Beacon Interval to 75 and i have my DTIM Interval at 4.

i have used all firmwares all the way up to now the latest 66 and my devices have been rock solid. 68u here

I have the same problem as interconnect. Not only does 5ghz stop working but wired connections as well. I have changed the settings as you recommended. I will keep you posted.

Well so far so good. For me the 5G dropped after 2-3 weeks so I won't know for another week or two (downgraded last weekend). I will post an update then and let you know!

This has been happening to me for some time, its a nightmare. I followed all the guides, reseting the router and wiping it. Since i did all this everythings been ok, until......

only maybe 3-4 crashes in the last two months, at night.....

Well my RT-AC68U dropped wifi again on 380.63_2. Both 2.4 and 5 GHz. The admin interface went down as well. The ethernet network was still up and working as I was able to get online on a desktop connected via ethernet. That's about a week and half uptime... which is what I've been seeing; it stays up for about 2-3 weeks before going down. Will be rolling back to 380.62_1. That firmware I had running for 5 weeks so it should hopefully be good.
