Homeplug AV2, should we expect real improvement ?

OK. There is no miracle. I replaced all my 4 Linksys PLK300 , 200Mbps, adapters with 4 Zyxel 500Mbps (2 singles and 2 4 ports). As indicated before and after by the Zyxel utility, the speed gain was about 10 to 15 % but the real speed went from 22 to 30 Mbps. With 30 Mbps I still can't stream...

Homeplug AV2, should we expect real improvement ?

Thanks, no go with satellite TV and I have Directv. I could use their own MOCA system (called DECA) but they claim it should only be used with their own receivers. I am happy with my current Linksys Powerline 200Mbps setup, just need a little more speed. That's the reason for my original post, I...

Homeplug AV2, should we expect real improvement ?

I live in a condo, no way to pass any cable through walls. A good bluray movie wil require 50 Mbps without stuttering. You can have 1080P from 15 to 50 Mbps for domestic use. In order to stream high bitrates you also need stable connection and even if some adpters, Wireless or Powerline, can go...

Homeplug AV2, should we expect real improvement ?

I wonder if the new Homeplug AV2 will make a lot of difference in comparison with the existing 500Mbps adapters or will just be another 1000Mbps nominal and 45Mbps real ? My Linksys 200Mbps Powerline network goes from 10 to 30 Mbps real speed and I need at least 50 to 70Mbps to be able to stream...

    D-LINK DHP-501AV 500 Mbps Powerline

Thanks. You reviewed the Trendnet and the Netgear and the performance was quite different. Is that because the chipset is different or the Trendnet implementation is not so good ?

    D-LINK DHP-501AV 500 Mbps Powerline

I just noticed few online stores started to sell this kit and wonder if anybody here has any experience with it. I am interested in the real throughput vis a vis the Netgear and Trendnet units but I can't see any review on the 501AV as of yet. Many thanks.

    Isolating XAVB5001

I guess you can set different passwords to ring 1 and ring 2 using the Netgear Powerline Utility.

    Netgear XAVB5501

Tim Is there any difference in performance between a 220 V and a 120 V installation , as far as powerline goes ? Thanks.

    Netgear XAVB5501

Did you buy the 5501 or the 5001 ? The 5501 can't be found anywhere. Where did you buy it ?

    D-link dap-1562

AMPs normally don't work well with satellite. I have Directv. My cables are also very old. They are splitted four times already. Thanks.

    D-link dap-1562

I have already too many splitters on my coax lines , I would rather try the 500 Mbps Powerlines , hoping for 70-80 Mbps real throughput. I agree wireless should be the last resort but this DAP-1562 seems to be much faster than conventional N gear. Thanks.

    D-link dap-1562

I am very much interested in this AP/Bridge but there are no professional reviews yet. Basicaly, I wonder if I can replace my 200 Mbps powerline network with a pair of DAP-1562 and get at least twice the throughput. I can get now around 35 Mbps real throughput with my PLK300 but need a bit more...
