    To be used only for a 2Gb swap then it will definitely be Ext4.

    Usually, it will be Ext4 when used with add-ons but if only use for hosting data files (like a media server) than use one of the other formats.

    Since ASUS and Éric Sauvageau (RMerlin) are collaborating in the development of both firmwares then it is safe to beleave that they will not complains about it been loaded on your router.

    This is true for any router (whatever the FW). As a non-gamer the first thing I did was to replace the default ASUS FW with the Merlin one once satisfy with the stability of my GT-AX6000 router with its default (basic) configuration almost two years ago. So far I did not encounter any issues...

    You are in the wrong forum since you are refering to ASUS own firmware versions not Asuswrt-Merlin ones...
