I just saw that Asus released the gpl 384.45149 for the AC88U. Will you add it to 384.9?
384.9 (xx-xxx-xxxx)
o RT-AX88U: Merged GPL 384_5247
o RT-AC3200: GPL 384_45149 + updated binary blobs from Asus
o RT-AC87U: not supported in this release
o Other models: 384_45149

@RMerlin thanks for your continued updates. I just saw that Asus released the gpl 384.45149 for the AC88U. Will you add it to 384.9? Thanks in advance

Already did on December 29th.

This started today after i changed ISPs and updated to the lasted alpha build, with the ISP that i was using before the GPON ONT was in bridge mode and i was doing the PPPoE authentication strait on my RT-AC86U! But on the new ISP, they use a Nokia ONT, model G-240W-A, and it seems that there is no way to put it on bridge mode(at least no on this version of firmware that mine is using), so the PPPoE authentication is being done on the Nokia ONT, from ONT a cable is going to the wan on my RT-AC86U and the wan connection type being used is "Automatic IP", the mtu on the wan is 1500 and i tried to go into LAN->Switch Control -> Jumbo Frame On and OFF the result is the same...

The devices on my network right now are:

My desktop
Two xiaomi phone(both using 5ghz)
one xiaomi ip camera(the camera is using 2.4ghz)

Im going to test it with the pppoe connection mode with the old ISP since their service is still running.
Try calling the ISP and see if the can place it in Bridge mode on their end. My ISP used to allow me to do this myself. But now, I have to place a call to them. Within ten minutes, I get a call back telling me they completed the request. I have done this on four sites.

I’ve just had a strange issue with my Ac86u.
I rebooted from the gui and all the lights went out and it wouldn’t boot back up, I manually rebooted and it’s online again now but I’ve not had that issue before.
Is it a known fault with the Ac86u because I don’t believe it’s an issue with the firmware?

Known. Mine does that occasionally, I've seen a couple other people mention it.

Thanks for that! I did do a search but couldn’t find anything.
Manual reboots in future for me then
If you have a thumb drive attached, you really should use the GUI ... it doesn't happen all the time, and when the reboot works, it cleanly unmounts the thumb drive.

I have a 2tb HDD attached, does that react the same way?

It does, but if you're using ext4 with journaling, you're not near as likely to lose anything by just manually rebooting. I just prefer a clean unmount whenever possible.

No idea what I’m using to be honest, I just plugged it in and set it up to save files to and play media to my smart devices.
I’ll just reboot via the gui unless it hangs again :)

More than likely exFAT then. Which means no journaling, so you should definitely reboot via the GUI.

Yes it is exFAT!
I’ll definitely reboot via gui in future.
Thanks for the info, I appreciate it :)

thx, but that was the first thing that i did after they installed the internet, in other words, asked their support to the put ONT in bridge mode, since there is no reason for me to have two routers and one more hop inside my network... What they said? That they did not know\could not put it in bridge mode! So 2 days, searching a lot, i've found the default master password for this ONT on a french forum and with that in hands, I've change it to bridge mode, but now i am having a new issue:

I had the same issues when I setup my AC3100, to work without a modem. They are mostly meaningless I expect. I went back to using the modem instead. I remember the log spam

Also, asking for help in two threads for the same issue can be confusing for others trying to follow along.:rolleyes:

Its not the same issue, its a new one that its not related to the alpha builds, thats why i created a new thread.

Asus RT-AC2900 (AC86U) just installed 384.9_alpha1-g951fac98d indicates as CPU Model a Cortex B53 ARMv8 (Cores: 2).
Is it posible that a BCM49408 with 2 disabled cores is in my router ?
Original AC86U uses BCM4906 ARM v8 Cortex-A53

The question I have now: is the GT-AX11000 going to be supported by Merlin's build in the future? Looking at how the AC3200 is on its way out, I am looking for another tri-band asus router & Merlin's build has been very good for it. The big selling point for me is being able to establish a backhaul & utilize OpenVPN.
