I had the same situation with ac86u and ac68u, both after hard reset was inaccessible. I had to use firmware restoration tool to fix routers.

Dirty upgrade from RMerlin's previous stable with zero issues.
Although our AC86 is set to AP, I'm curious if anything common between the testers that are experiencing issues with this alpha, since many Forum Members report no alpha issues?
EDIT: Common Issues or Settings, other than a hard rest.

You only have to read where is the issue. Firmware works until you hard reset the router where you cant access gui anymore. You dirty upgrade without reset so works for you.

I suspect the client icon and factory reset issues have the same origin, and i wouldn't doubt it to be caused by the fix "nvram usage reported on Sysinfo page was inaccurate as it included JFFS stored values"

Hi, anyone here using CakeQOS-Merlin? Does the stats error like this? I also can't check for update for CakeQOS-Merlin, stuck on loading.

I would infer that something in this version of Merlin breaks CakeQoS. Maybe it's a Merlin thing, maybe it's the Merlinized CakeQoS, maybe it's a little of both.
Until it's resolved, you can rollback to the last Merlin Release, or you can turn Cake off. Right?
(This same stuff will start happening with Jack Yaz's stuff and and and...tread lightly)

Try to force an update or reinstall. Seems the new version doesn’t like the dash in cake-qos.

Sure, I did rollbacked and it went normal again. I just want to share my finding and ask to fellow alpha testers if they found the same issue.

I don't really need to update as I'm on the latest version, just want to tell there's an issue. Does the fix also applied for CakeQoS-Merlin's stats?

Just a quick query, will this update also include the stuck commands fix or do we still have to it manually?

Everything should be fixed with v2.1.2. Run /jffs/addons/cake-qos/cake-qos update at the command line.
Thanks for the update, already updated earlier while on 386.11. Gonna try the alpha again later.

UPDATE: forgot to tell, CPU load usage also became lower after updating v2.1.2 while on 386.11. I'm on .12 alpha again, CakeQoS-Merlin works normal again.

Performed dirty upgrade of my RT-AC5300 router from 386.11 release to this alpha and everything appears to be OK other than custom client icons no longer showing in the webui (and also cannot be re-selected and applied). Have been running on alpha for past 36 hours and no other problems experienced so far.

Do not install this version. If you install and then do a clear reset you cannot access the GUI at start up at IP level or local domain level, http server crashes out.

I tried this on a AC86U had to use the FW tool to restore back to dot 11.

Never usually have issues with Alpha's or Beta's but this has been terrible, and the two betas on AX models. Eurgh

That though is why developers put alphas and betas out in the wild. To test and find the bugs. Unless you are willing to put the work into testing, and gatherings logs and details for feedback to the developer, then you should stay away from alphas and beta releases. They definently don't belong in production or mission critical systems.

I suppose I spoke a bit too soon. I'm getting the following error on my AC86U that's in AP mode. Was not getting this with 386.11. The error repeats at intervals anywhere between a few minutes to ~6 hours. The "asd" keyword in the output seems to suggest that this is the now infamous ASUS asd service puking on itself. There is no obvious performance issue with the AP. Interestingly, its not happening on the main router.
