The US politics is extremely polarized. For various reasons. What you are seeing is a pendulum swinging back to the right after that pendulum swung to the left for four years. Trump for all his faults, and there are many, is a business man not a politician. He operates by using the "big ask" to negotiate. His tariff are a negotiation tactic. Its a way of getting people to the table when they otherwise wouldn't. Political polarization exists in other countries just as it does in the US, and everyone is seeing and reacting based on their emotions which is colored and influenced by the information (often biased) they consume and the echo chambers people typically live in these days.
And now politics is unfortunately seeping into this subforum.
I agree this isn't the place for it. For what it's worth I've been to the US a few times and enjoyed myself, and have American friends. As polarized as these things are it's not about the people, we still like our southern brothers.
