Entware Entware updates have appeared !!!

@Viktor Jaep - I've used the "opkg flag hold tailscale" command mentioned above for now, so hopefully it won't get updated with Entware again.

But it wasn't just the version that TAILMON was complaining about, it also said it had to replace some settings file (Sorry, can't remember exact message) and it took quite a few tries to do it - these are the Emails it sent...

Code:
SUCCESS: Tailscale Operating Mode changed to Userspace Mode
ALERT: Tailscale Service settings out-of-sync
FAILURE: Tailscale Service Restarted
SUCCESS: Tailscale Operating Mode changed to Userspace Mode

(I get that "changed to Userspace Mode" message whenever I restart tailscale but I've never used kernel mode, maybe the text needs changing?)

Just updated the entware files and had also the same issue with unbound, even with stopping unbound first and only then updating entware. However, an update of unbound solved the issue.

What is however a problem I currently have is that vnstat does not start again after reboots and I always have to start it manually.

Or you could put a hold on the Entware package as discussed here.
Code:
opkg flag hold tailscale
Yes, that would have been a better way. I didn’t remember…

The thing is, when you upgrade entware, it will overwrite whatever you already have installed. TAILMON will just keep continuing to use whatever is present. I'm not in favor of borking up anything that entware/opkg may be relying on... I could see perhaps an email warning that version numbers just changed or something? That might be helpful?
Agreed that removing the package lines in the file by editing/sedding is not the right way.

Maybe you would consider @ColinTaylor recommendation of putting a hold on the package.
Maybe during install. If the user un-installs you could also ask if you want the hold released.

Not sure how many users start with Entware tailscale then decide to use TAILMON. That’s the use case that can cause issues.
