The main script is not the only script using the whitelist, what might work here may not work in the other scripts.
Next thing users are going to add it to the blacklist, which will fail miserably. So, just don't fckn mention it. I will have to support the users, not you.

NO WILDCARD (*) IN THE WHITE- AND BLACKLIST. PERIOD.

Hey sorry about the extra posts. For some reason they did not all load in my browser and I just saw this one.
I totally understand this and will drop it. The only reason I was trying the wildcard to begin with was when I upgraded it retained my original whitelist.txt so I did not see the note about it not working. After I rename it and get a fresh whitelist.txt file I see you specifically put in there not to use it.

Any way to get a peek at it? Just one dev to another. I just think it would be really nice (for all users) to support a basic wildcard in the whitelist file. Unless you want to support full blown regular expressions. That would work too, advanced users could use regex, and basic users could have a single line for every subdomain. Unless there is a reason to not support it at all in the whitelist file.
I just removed the wildcard removal, I'm not going to add it back. This is how things should be. If I want domain idontwantit.not removed then this is all I want removed. If I also want thisidontwantit.not then I add it as well.
This is fine grained white- and blacklisting. This is intended. Most users will not want it any other way.

After I rename it and get a fresh whitelist.txt file I see you specifically put in there not to use it.
I believe this warning has always been in the file itself, certainly since I added the (el) editor.
AB never changed the whitelist you have. Even if you started with AB 1.0 and continually upgraded to the latest, it would still be the same file.

I have no ipv6 devices on nor is it enabled in the router.
thanks by the way for explaining what the AAAA is. lol

The IPv4 [A] record query seems to be blocked but the IPv6 [AAAA] record query is forwarded upstream.... strange....

Yup IPv6. The entry ought to be in the blacklist if the service is enabled on the router. It adds it automatically when on.

Might be some other devices support it, or your device has it enabled in the network interface settings.

yea I do not know why it would bypass as I have nothing else on it or modded anything. it is just tcip v4 no 6 enabled on anything.
guess I will uninstall and reinstall and see what it does from there.
and your log would be what I thought I would see here. is pixelserv recommended to use or is it just another layer?
thanks and for the great scripts.

I'm not seeing that here. This is my output with and without pixelserv-tls on. Something is bypassing your query.

If you already know what A and AAAA records are then i wasted a line of text...but i never assume.... just put it out there for the benefit of all.
Check out "Happy Eyeballs" here... will explain why you see IPv6 queries

is pixelserv recommended to use or is it just another layer?
thanks and for the great scripts.
It blocks https ads and also responds with a pixelsized image for some content. No blanc holes in the webpage.
The way I built it into AB makes it a no brain er for you to install.

Yes I totally agree. Sorry for all the confusion. I am getting rid of my wildcards now that I see it was not intended to work (just sort of does on accident but might break something). So consider my posts a bug report ;)

I wont bring it up again.

As mentioned, the dev version won't allow it.

Hope someone can help I cant get pixelserv-tls to work

You have remnants of a previous Entware installation on that device.
Entware is not running although the folder is present. AB cannot know the integrity of that folder's content so it refuses to use it.
You best delete, or at least rename it to something other than entware. Then the new install will work as you hope it does.

The system check has found a folder called entware on your external device but when it tests for a working version of entware by checking for "opkg" this fails.
You may find the symbolic link in /jffs/scripts/post-mount has been erased at some point.
can you post the post-mount entry? You should see an entry like this
Code:
if [ "$1" = "/tmp/mnt/sda5" ] ; then
  ln -nsf $1/entware /tmp/opt
fi

EDIT: Of course @thelonelycoder suggestion above is the built in, best and most foolproof way of getting up and running....... mine is the beardy linux guru "almost guaranteed to get you into more of a mess" version ;)

ok so I uninstalled 3.65. went to all devices connected to the lan and made sure no has ipv6 installed or in use and none do.checked the router and ipv6 is disabled.
reinstalled 3.65 and added pixelserv. repopulated blacklist and somehow ipv6 [AAAA] is sending queries and going thru.
any ideas or tips? it is several computers that are sending the queries and I uninstalled all items from the network adapter except ip 4.
and it is not amazonaws this time tho that still goes thru too with the [AAAA]
thanks

and what is stranger is this.it actually got the ip6 ip address from this forum. what would cause this and how does ip4 understand ip6. I am baffled after this. and no thing ip6 on this system.
