I use dnscrypt alongside this with a hostslist named after you :p (don't know the history there) with no issues. Before you install dnscrypt, make sure you do this one time (it creates some local lookup of ntp server IPs so that router can init the correct time for dnscrypt to use to setup the connection. You may need to install hostip
:D I was an early user of the ab-solutions! I manually included them in the time and suggested Lonely to include them and he kindly named it after my choice.
Im going to give it a try, had some issues in the past with entware or a defective usb drive and loosing all internet access using dnscrypt, today I changed to google dns ... I keep bouncing between it and opendns

Ok guys, I give up, and my wifey is getting at me for a few things she does lol I have gone through the various guides and suggestions posted here, but I am having issues with some sites and am getting for example;

'Privacy error'
Your connection is not private
Attackers might be trying to steal your information from www.googleadservices.com(for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards).

NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID

From what I understand I need to setup a setup a custom certificate for each machine affected? Primarily we both use Chrome / Chromium on Windows 10 / Ubuntu Linux... Is there a good guide or suggestion to fix this? Appreciate any assistance

Reloading the page always works on my iOS devices.

Is it repeatable when you see? I would need your URL to find out what's happening in your situation.

From my tests, it'll pop up again. For example. docs.google.com. And you've to be quite careful during the tests and know what you're doing.

It only happens when clicking a link from a google search page, and on iOS.
On the desktop browsers, addons are installed to reverse google's habit of modifying the url in the results page.

On iOS, these modified search results trigger that error, so much I can tell atm.

I will have to keep better track. I am seeing the issue with both Ubuntu Linux and Windows 10. Both using Chromium / Chrome browsers. Unsure if it is also iOS. I was just using the googleadservices as a quick example, I know there have been many other links to. I guess my other question would be then, if it is because of googleadservices being blocked, why show the ad in the first place if is it just going to error out?

So is there no way to fix this privacy certificate error? Is just just how the ad blocker does its job? I guess I am just used to using in- browser adblock extensions where everything was blocked without any extra fuss, random popup notices or error messages. I just liked the idea of having everything handled central on the router itself when I found this solution.

If it were a general problem, this thread would be full of posts like yours.
AB-Solution is installed on thousends of routers, with a multitude of devices attached.

Check the syslog for error messages regarding your usb device.
I'm about 99% sure that's where your problem is.
Reformat the device, reformat jffs, start from scratch.

Back up and running. I reinstalled opkg and everything is functioning. Again, thanks for your quick responses, the community loves you! Wish you had venmo!

Good to hear. And sorry, only PayPal, there is no other service that makes sense for what I use it for.

The installer here handles the whole NTP thing: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/release-dnscrypt-installer-for-asuswrt.36071/

I installed this last week, quick and easy to setup and configure! I have a few questions though.. What is the recommended list to use? (I currently am on #4)
Also, I also just updated my router firmware and had errors with ab-solution and pixelserv, so I wiped my usb stick and reinstalled it. What is the recommended method for updating firmware when using this?

I am on a rt-ac68u if it matters.

Thanks!

Thant depends on how much you want blocked. Any of the preset list is the recommended list. You have to decide for yourself how much you want to be blocked. The larger ones will prevent certain sites from even loading in the browser.

Your jffs partition was likely affected by the update.
The magic word is backup. It's the tab to the right of the firmware update page.

Here's a question. How can I exclude some clients from AB, but not have them no longer benefit from dnscrypt?

Check the FAQ on the website, see if you can route it to still use it.

To be honest I don't think it's possible, since AB effectively latches onto dnsmasq, is that right?
That's correct, unless you set the clients DNS server to be upstream.
