No I left everything the way it is.

One more thing to try.....when it asks you to reboot and you can't.........physically unplug the power to the router wait 20 seconds and plug it back in. You do not have to wait 10 minutes. Just wait a couple seconds and unplug and plug back in 20 seconds later lets see what happens then.

Edit: My reason for flashing the merlin firmware is because I wanted to install plex on the router.

I'm not sure the router would make a good Plex server or whether it's even possible. The only Plex install I'm aware of is this and it's no longer being updated:

The memory and processor requirements are beyond your routers capabilities.

Only thing I have connected is my laptop nothing else not even internet.

I think that's it you need your laptop and internet connected.

Make sure internet is plugged in please as well your laptop.

If the internet is not connected you don't need new firmware your router is a complicated switch without internet.

Sorry I was unable to help.
1. No one else has this problem
2. The firmware is good
3. The router works on stock firmware.
4. You are able to load stock firmware so flashing is ok.
5. Nothing left but YOUR process.
6. Take a look through these posts what you need is there try again when you are ready.
