I was able to convert two TM-AC1900 routers into AC68U with the Asus AiMesh firmware (384_20308). AiMesh works, and I don't recall seeing any stability or disconnect issues of the node router itself. But I find that my phone frequency disconnects from the node and switches to cellular LTE, then back and forth. My other devices (like Roku) stream perfectly fine and are stable without disconnecting. So I don't think it's an issue of the node AiMesh itself, but possibly a setting that is triggering disconnects on things like mobile phones?

Just wondering if anyone else has encountered the same issue.

Thanks in advance!

Maybe this post is relevant. If so, then this topic will interest you... current firmware breaks AiMesh on hacked TM-AC1900.

You could also try disabling Airtime Fairness... it is incompatible with some wireless clients.

I haven't tried WiFi calling yet, so I can't comment there. I did try the latest firmware this morning, which disabled AiMesh as others have indicated on this forum already. I re flashed both to the previous Asus firmware to get AiMesh working again, which it is.

But I'm still having constant disconnect/reconnect on my phone. Not sure if I cam confirm it yet, but it seems to happen on 2.4 GHz more often. It might not happen on 5 GHz at all, but I find the signal strength is much weaker with 5 GHz (which is normal I suppose).

I disabled Airtime Fairness, doesn't seem to have made an impact to my phone disconnecting.

Not sure if this is relevant, but given the AC1900/AC68 as router does not support Smart Connect node band steering, I would use split SSIDs and connect the phone to just one band.

Some with WiFi instability issues recommend disabling Universal Beamforming per band.

Rokus with an RF Remote and a WiFi Direct AP have been accused of WiFi interference, which might lead to WiFi instability. Use a Signal analyzer app to see ambient WiFi signals.

Have had similar issues at times...likely need to disable or change roaming assist (RA) settings under the wireless professional tab. Think I personally have 2.4 set to -70, 5-1 set to -60, and 5-2 set to -70, but all about your layout and such. That's what worked best for me for now (until I move the mesh node again).
