How to restore the system to its default settings?
• Go to Administration > Restore/Save/Upload Setting, and
click Restore.
The following are the factory default settings:

Not sure why a year old plus thread was necroposted, but deleting the Asus ASD signature files and having them automatically redownloaded by the Asus (or Asus-Merlin) firmware is EXPECTED behavior.Only…. It doesn’t seem to fix the problem.
The asd file versions are not related to the firmware version, as in your RP-AX56 with asus firmware will have the exact same asd files my RT-AX88U has with Merlin firmware. When you remove them they'll be automatically downloaded again.
Sorry about the "necroposting", but I couldn't find another thread which more closely resembles my problem. I can add the RP-AX56 to the AiMesh and all is good as long as it stays connected via LAN. If I unplug the LAN cable and move the RP-AX56 away from the router, the connection breaks down and the LED flashes blue rapidly. Not sure why a year old plus thread was necroposted, but deleting ASD files and having them recreated is EXPECTED behavior.
What problem with AiMesh are you trying to solve by deleting the, very likely unrelated to AiMesh, ASD files?
If you are changing from AiMesh Ethernet backhaul to WiFi backhaul then you may need to change the Backhaul Connection Priority setting in the Ai Mesh management section for that AiMesh Node. This assumes the node is configured with the proper WiFi credentials to join the main router. The following Asus Support articles, if you haven't seen them already, may or may not provide some additional information on proper configuration.Sorry about the "necroposting", but I couldn't find another thread which more closely resembles my problem. Thank you very much. I will read it all again and try all the steps recommended one by one. I will report here on success/failure.If you are changing from AiMesh Ethernet backhaul to WiFi backhaul then you may need to change the Backhaul Connection Priority setting in the Ai Mesh management section for that AiMesh Node. PS: If you are simply moving the AiMesh node to a new location and keeping the Ethernet backhaul, then you may need to reboot the main router in addition to the AiMesh node. In the end, AiMesh is sometimes flaky (as evidenced by the numerous posts on this site). It sometimes takes some massaging to get AiMesh to work right. For example some recommend using stock Asus firmware on the AiMesh nodes rather than Asus-Merlin firmware.
Thank you for trying this out. Still on Auswrt-Merlin Firmaware: 3004.388.8_2 and when I try to automatically check for updates, it says that I am on the most current version. I could manually update to another version (not Asuswrt-Merlin), but I am reluctant to give up on Asuswrt-Merlin as I need some of the VPN features it provides.Just relocated my RP-AX58, so I can add the normally unused RP-AX56 into the mix here, to see if I can replicate the issue.
*It's my impression that with just the GT-AX6000 and the RP-AX58 that roaming is improved with router firmware 3.0.0.6.x - impressions can sometimes be wrong!
