Use public filtering DNS service like OpenDNS, CleanBrowsing, Cloudflare for Families, Quad9, AdGuard, etc. Many to choose from.

next Asus release
Any idea if and by when the stock firmware (or even for Merlin) for ASUS RT-AX92U will be updated to 388 release?

Currently using OpenDNS but not able to successfully use it through DNS over TLS yet.

Any information on how to make DNS over TLS work with OpenDNS with slightly detailed steps on ASUS RT-AX92U way will be highly appreciated.

No. If the routers were purchased recently and return option is available I would just send them back and replace with something else.

It works properly on Asus routers:

How do I verify that DNS over TLS is working?

I verified that for you already. My test routers are behind pfSense firewall and I can see what's going on. DoT to OpenDNS is working properly.

No idea on Asus. As for Asuswrt-Merlin, @GNUton handles that model in his fork.

Thanks. I have enabled DoT to OpenDNS in my router.
