I’m looking into setting up downloadmaster.

What are the issues with the current version and which one did you end up reverting too?

Initially I saw you downgrading to 104 then updating to 105.

Actually I've never downgraded any version.

I upgraded from .102 to .104 using the webui, and from .104 to .105 using the manual update ipkg install.

.102 used to hang 7 of 10 times using it, .104 hanged 4 of 10 times, and 105 hangs 1 of 20/30 times (usually the hang is overpassed by disabling and enabling the service).

Same issue here, we pay top dollar believing we are acquiring a final product, but in the end we spend the life of the product trying to get it to work, like some alpha tester.

MY personal thoughts....... It's a router guys, not a PC. It makes sense to perform some simple tasks on the router like running diversion and maybe a few other things, but to use it as a torrent server, NAS/SMB server and video server? Not for me. I want as little as possible on the router as it is the main focal point for internet access. Grab a $20 raspberry Pi or some other device for all these extra, and potentially super intense, functions.

Sorry @slicer, I know this doesn't help with your question. I've just been reading a bunch of complaint threads and needed to vent as I don't understand why people expect performance from an overloaded device.

Ultimately, to each their own, but I just don't get it.

I agree. I use mine as a router and backup file storage for my NAS. Daily I have a script that runs rsync to backup files on my NAS to a USB 3.0-connected external HDD.

First of all, I'm NO expert (AT ALL!)
I see you're trying to install v9.x version, but if I'm not mistaken, AC68 uses v3.X versions as same as 87U does.
Have you tried downloading and installing that version instead?
Besides, why are you manually updating DM? Does web UI not get the latest v3.1.0.106 version?
You can grab it from this link => http://nw-dlcdnet.asus.com/asusware/arm/stable/downloadmaster_3.1.0.106_arm.ipk

Regards!

Many thanks, I need to manually install DM is because I cannot install the DM using WebUI, after I click the install, it returns "The remote server is not responding."

Now i am able to install DM manually.
admin@RT-AC68U:/tmp/mnt/RayCloud_Backup/asusware.arm/lib/ipkg# ipkg install /opt
/lib/ipkg/downloadmaster_3.1.0.106_arm.ipk
Installing downloadmaster (3.1.0.106) to root...
ls: /rom/asuslighttpd*: No such file or directory
ipkg: /debian-binary: Read-only file system
Configuring downloadmaster
Successfully terminated.

But when I connect the DM with :8081 port, it returns ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED. is the service didn't start or need some configuration?
the DM appear under USB application page after manually installed.

Honestly, I'm running out of suggestion here (told you I was no expert lol)
Have you tried by disabling and re enabling it from that page? Maybe a reboot? Are you sure that's the default port?
Besides, Its strange that you have no "check for update" option aside Disable one, that only use to happen when you are using webui wan access instead of local lan access.

Cheers!

There's a new version (107) available now. No idea of what's changed.
I'm running it since almost a week.
It's working OK just as previous .106 version, didn't see or felt anything new either.
Cheers!
