Upgraded to latest firmware. Browser interface seems snappier and no problems with Mesh or any speed issues.

Interesting no issues with this firmware update. I have had nothing but problems unfortunately. :(

Here is summary of where things are at so far:
Hardware:
1 GT-AX11000 Pro - Main router initially running latest firmware of 3.0.0.6_102_34721-g77ec56d_403-gcfcea
3 RT-AX82U AiMesh nodes - Mesh nodes running latest firmware of 3.0.0.4_388_24963-g7d00a47

Issues:
  • AiMesh nodes not joining or connecting to main router
  • All wireless clients connecting to main router cannot reach internet with exception of mobile phone (Pixel 8 Pro) using wireless connection only

Troubleshooting Steps Tried:
  • Factory reset of main router, attempt to reconnect AiMesh nodes - FAIL
  • Revert main router to previous firmware versions, factory reset after each, attempt to reconnect AiMesh nodes - FAIL
    • Firmware versions tried on main router:
      • 3.0.0.6_102_34721-g77ec56d_403-gcfcea
      • 3.0.0.6_102_34713-g0d793c1_386-g45e48
      • 3.0.0.4_388_24721-ga818331 -- currently installed

Notes:
  • No restore settings (CFG files) have been applied to router when upgrading or downgrading firmware - starting with fresh manual configuration after hard reset (button press on back of router) each time
  • Attempts to connect clients and join AiMesh nodes occur immediately following firmware update, hard reset and initial wireless network configuration. No additional settings are made or changed after each hard reset, only default values are used.
  • Have submitted issue to ASUS for support as router is under warranty but they are slow and generally of no particular help at this point. Repeatedly was disconnected on chat with reps but finally got a case number to enter into the feedback form in router firmware and submit for assistance
  • Currently having to use one of the RT-AX82U AiMesh nodes as main router and the other two as AiMesh nodes until this is resolved as my network is unusable without this provisional setup until issues can be resolved with main router.

Questions:
  • Had made firmware updates to my main router and AiMesh nodes about 2 weeks ago but had not hard reset my router until the other day which is when all of the trouble began. How would this configuration work all that time and then after a hard reset stop working altogether?
  • Why is my mobile phone able to easily connect to the router and internet yet all other clients cannot? The phone is only connected via Wifi (5Ghz and 2.4Ghz networks both working) and not connected to cellular data service.
  • Is there any big jump between firmware versions 3.0.0.4 and 3.0.0.6 versions that may be part of this issue? The AiMesh nodes use 3.0.0.4 firmware versions and the main router was using 3.0.0.6 versions but have revered to a 3.0.0.4 version again but this did not seem to change anything.
  • What might be the best approach to starting completely fresh again with my setup and getting a working network?

I received the attached document from Asus technical support to "troubleshoot" and report issues. I think for the most part I have done nearly everything in this document and the issue still seems to point to bad firmware but it sounded like initially from the original poster here and the response that it was working for them without issue. Not sure if the OP (@Vogemic ) or responder (@Con ) were using AiMesh nodes at all in their setup and which process they used to upgrade the firmware (manual flash or automatic update)

Your issue is related to having 3004 firmware on the nodes. I've tested a few different 3006 routers and all had problems if you connected a node with 3004 firmware. I saw issues like no internet on certain devices, to constant reboots of the main router when the node connected. Once a node with 3006 firmware was used, all those issues stopped

@Calkulin Thanks for your response about the firmware versions. I had this suspicion as well...I guess it makes sense. In any case, the unfortunate part is that I can only get 3004 firmware versions (latest) for my RT-AX82U AiMesh nodes. Running the latest 3006 on the GT-AX11000 Pro may be causing conflicts and I am continuing to monitor for these dropouts and the like since I was able to finally get it working again through a lot of time and trial and error. I wonder if there is a good way to log (or maybe it already is in the logs) for showing when AiMesh nodes disconnect and reconnect that would indicate these kinds of problems.
