Release ASUS GT-BE98 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_36878 (2024/12/04)

Top of the line products from Asus are neglected

I waited like a year for an update for axe 16000

Wi-Fi guest networks are not working 100% and there is some stability problems on the wan side

I agree the router is great but it needs better support

I have 3 guest networks setup and all work perfectly. What is not working on the wan side?
See the first page of this topic you Will see the bug its not crítical

Its not 100% vs the older firmware, gets some dropouts its erratic, there is no problem only se need better support, if there keep this up it Will be like the axe 16000 a full year for fixing instability

Thread cleaned up. Keep it on topic, no personal attacks, and let the moderators do the moderating.

How many releases (firmware) were there for the BE98 PRO?

Just a heads-up for anyone running the GT-BE98 v2.0 on firmware 3.0.0.6.102_36878: I'm experiencing intermittent failures of the wl3 wireless interface. At random times (sometimes minutes, sometimes hours after boot), wl3 disappears entirely from the system, and clients associated with that band drop off.

The Wireless screen also shows that band stuck on "Channel 0", which is invalid. Syslogs include various wireless-related errors before the interface vanishes.

I reverted to 36855, and the issue is gone, with system stable for over a week with the exact same configuration.

This is on a GT-BE98 hardware revision v2.0, which might be relevant if others are running v1.0 without issues.

ASUS support is still gathering info, but I wanted to ask:
Is anyone else with v2 revision seeing similar behavior on 36878? Or is this limited to my unit?

GT-BE98 hardware revisie v2.0 ??????????????????

Quick update for anyone following this thread:
I’ve since confirmed that my unit is indeed GT-BE98 hardware revision v2.0, purchased sealed in Germany. I’ve also received multiple crash logs from firmware 3.0.0.6.102_36878, showing low-level kernel traps, driver asserts, and full wireless interface (wl3) failure. These logs include messages like:
  • ASSERT MapProcess.c(355): LINK: 0 HAS DRIVER TRAP
  • MAC CONSOLE[wl3]: FAULT: ASSERT pc 883b
  • hostapd: Could not add STA to kernel driver
  • acs get chanspec failed ret code: -19
When the issue occurs:
  • The 2.4GHz band disappears entirely — all associated SSIDs (including guest networks) stop broadcasting
  • The Wireless section in the UI shows “Channel 0”, which is invalid
  • Clients on that band get disconnected and can’t reconnect
The issue is 100% resolved on firmware 36855, with the exact same settings.

ASUS support is investigating, and I’ve submitted full logs and system details.
If anyone else is running 36878 and not seeing issues, I’d be very curious to hear. Or if anyone else is seeing something similar, feel free to chime in.

Thanks again.
