Sorry, lets run that logic.

Phone works with Router 1. Phone works with Router 2. Phone does not work with router 3, means its the phone? I see two good sets and one bad. If the phone works with every other router fine. Then only when using the Asus it has issues, it must be the phone? Sorry your logic does not work. No offense.

I agree Samsung Wifi sucks at 6ghz. I disabled 6Ghz to test and only had 5ghz on, with Wifi 7 enabled. Same thing, 5 feet away and it shows Wifi 6 for the icon when connected and not Wifi 7. It randomly will work.

Other issue is, it will be on Wifi 7, I open a game and start playing. After 10 secs the game says no internet. I have to exit the game. Then checking the Wifi icon, it show Wifi 7 no bars, I am 10 feet from the router and no walls. I then disable and re enable. Then it shows connected Wifi 6.
You proved it by saying it randomly works. And other people are having no WiFi issues at all with their Samsung phones and ASUS’ WiFi 7 routers, yet their Samsung do NOT work with Linksys or eero routers. That is what “Your Mileage May Vary” with different routers. Samsung has admitted their phones have WiFi issues with almost every WiFi router no matter what model or brand because of Samsung ‘s proprietary WiFi chipset firmware and drivers.

That means the firmware on the routers is NOT the primary cause of the issue.

Edited: At the end of the day I am saying Asus needs to update the firmware, reguardless of the phone. The firmware is from Nov of last year (almost 5 months old). This is a router that is for the Tech Enthusiast, I don't know anyone else who would spend this kind of money for a router unless they are. For this kind of money they need to do updates in a timely manor PERIOD. I expected better support for this kind of money.

The Eero worked fine for me with Wifi 7. At work I have 4 Unifi Wifi 7 access points, it shows connected and works great with the s24 ultra. I even tested a tp-link wifi 7 and also zero issues.

The only time I have issues is with my Samsung s24 ultra and the Asus be98pro. It might be samsung or asus. Samsung has put out multiple updates, asus has not. I am just saying we will know more once it comes out. Anyway you look at it, it is VERY unsatisfactory for Asus to come out with 3 updates for the non pro and zero for pro. They are the same minus the swapping of radios. So there is no reason they cant put updates out. We are talking about one of the most expensive single routers you can buy and Zero updates to fix bugs. I love this router and I had bought a tp-link Deco BE95 with two units. I returned it for the Asus.

There are bugs and its not just Wifi 7 or the s24. I put 5ghz as wifi 6 only and still in the middle of my game wifi just stopped working. I lost the round because I had to exit and disable wifi on my phone. Its so bad I use cell service only to play games now. I can sit there for 8 hours on the unifi connect wifi 7 at work and never have a drop.

Dont quote me on this, but Merlin would most likely know. If the Non Pro and Pro most likely have the same firmware. The only difference is non pro has dual 5ghz vs pro's dual 6ghz. Then they should share bugs. You can look at a the firmware notes and see the list of things fixed, including Optimizes WiFi 7 device connection issues listed.

I love this router, I would by it again no questions ask. I just think Asus needs to honor their end and put out some updates. Because there are bugs and 4-5 months and not even a day 1 patch worries me.

Also reguardless of it being Samsung or the router. Asus can purchase an S24 ultra and make tweaks after testing in their lab. For example people in another thread said you need to pick the channel manually and a few other setting they recommended to make it work better. It did, all those settings were on the router side. Asus could test, figure out why and make changes to the firmware so it work better.

Yes Asus could and should buy a S24 ultra, since its one of the only Wifi 7 phones people can purchase in almost every country. There is only the intel be200 wifi chipset for pc's and Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 you really need to test right now. So Asus has had since Jan to test why the s24 ultra has issues and put an update out to fix it. So if 4 unifi wifi 7 access point work fine, Eero works fine and Tp-link works fine. You still think its only the phone?

I will sum it up, its BOTH. Still Asus needs to do their job and put out updates.

4 x Unifi U7 Pro Wifi 7 (S24 Ultra stable and no issues)
Eero Max 7 (S24 Ultra stable and no issues)
2 x Tp-Link Deco BE95 Mesh (S24 Ultra stable and no issues)

Asus GT-BE98 Pro (lots of issues)
1. Connects and phone says this wifi does not have internet.
2. Connects and shows Wifi 6 not 7 (5 feet away so not range issue). An example when the screen showing all access points around you is on, it says my access point name with a wifi 7 logo. Forgetting and reconnecting, connects on Wifi 6 not 7, even though it says the router is broadcasting in Wifi 7.
3. Shows full bars with Wifi 7 and suddenly connection stops working, then shows 1 bar even though I am next to the router. The only way to fix is reboot the router or phone.
4. Even 5 feet away will not connect on 6Ghz with Wifi 6 or 7. Rebooting the router is the only way ti fix.
5. I will go to use my phone and notice data is not working while connected to router. It shows Wifi 6 and on 5ghz. I then try speedtest.net, no websites show up and the app says no internet. Yet I have full bars and on 5ghz with Wifi 6. So nothing to do with Wifi 7.

I dont hang out on Asus's forum. Is the beta posted by the Mods (someone trustworthy), I am interested in the beta. I just dont want to download it from a non Asus link. I was hoping Asus just posted it there. Its a shame you can't just click the beta button on the firmware page.

So 33814 is the latest bios? Also if it is allowed, could someone put the notes for the current beta. NO FILES! I just want to see what they have fixed or added in the lastest beta firmware, that way I can see what if will be in the final. ONLY if Asus allows notes to be shared on beta and if it does not violate the forum rules.

It’s not hosted by ASUS and NOT confirmed as legit by ASUS.

As already mentioned by Merlin on this board, stop posting betas that aren’t public betas released by and supported by ASUS.

I just wanted to know what they might have fixed. I don't think its an issue to post a bug fix list. Notice how I said only IF Asus allows the info to be posted. I am a Network engineer, there are others here that know more then you or me. I just want to know what Asus might have fixed since Oct of last year on my $800 router. My router has issues and Asus has not put any updates out. Asus keeps saying please wait for the new firmware to fix issues.

Merlin did not want people sharing files. He also said he was going to talk to Asus and see what's up. He said "I'll republish the posts once I hear back from Asus that this firmware image is OK for being shared." , Image meaning firmware. He did not say we can't talk about what fixes are coming out. I was also asking if Asus themselves post the beta files there for people to download or is it just from users posting the beta files. I am not willing to try a file from some random guy. Since I don't use Asus's forum, I don't know if they post official beta's there first and then their website. I was just stating if they have an official beta, I am interested.

I asked " Also IF it is allowed, could someone put the notes for the current beta. NO FILES!". Let me explain since you didn't read it "IF YOU ARE ALLOWED!". Meaning you are not under an NDA and its public info. Let me give you an example. Lets say Asus puts in the notes "Issues with S24 Ultra now resolved". Well now I can stop trying different thing to fix it or contacting Samsung. So if Asus allows for sharing of notes on firmware, that would help. This is why I asked for notes and also IF it is allowed by Asus to be shared and only IF it is allowed. That should not violate anything Merlin said.

This entire thread is about how buggy this firmware is and when is the new BETA is coming out. The 4th post was about BETA's.

Can you not reply to my post if all you are going to do is be rude! I am here to fix a problem, not deal with one.

Please give mi link with new frimware beta for be98. I can' t find it.

I was running my “sample” from 11/30, with 5 nodes. It was running great. Then I got AT&T fiber and had that plus cable modem for about 20 days Dual WAN with load balancing. It was running flawlessly. When I cancelled the cable modem service at the end of January all of a sudden bugginess started creeping in. There is one acquaintance I know from ASUS’s forum that had trouble with the 10 Gig Port as WAN. I was very perplexed as I had been using both 10 G and 2.5 G ports in Dual WAN….
It was probably because you chose both WAN ports for your dual WAN configuration because those are the only two ports that will work with dual WAN. I'm running it like this because even though you can configure one of the LAN ports as one of your dual WAN setup, the router just doesn't recognize the incoming connection. Sucks because I prefer to use my 10G WAN port as a LAN outgoing to one of my switches.

A firmware update is up on the asus rog website for the gt-be98 pro....

What Is MLO & How It Works

From the above posted link:

ASUS GT-BE98 Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_34491

FYI, the problem appears to be fixed with the latest firmware. I'm finally able to specify LAN2 for my 2ndary WAN port for the dual WAN setup. This frees up my 2nd 10G port which I use for my 2nd switch.

There is a huge gap between Asus' marketing and development lately. Even the cheapest RT-AX86U Pro model is still unfinished product - doesn't have the advertised long time ago Pro firmware. It was released in late 2022, now is 2024 already. Also not very clear what Asuswrt 5.0 is going to be. This Asus published page here shows GT-AX6000 and RT-AX88U Pro as the only compatible Asuswrt 5.0 models and with screenshots from ExpertWiFi firmware with the white GUI. What is going on? WTF*?

* - For who doesn't know, WTF here in Canada officially means "Where's The Funds". The development funds in this case. More info here. 🤭
no politics ??????????????? WTH

A firmware update is up on the asus rog website for the gt-be98 pro....

What are people, who were early adopters, going to cry about now?

Glad you said this. After spending 600-700 USD for a high end product only to get 1-2 updates a year, only to be told on this forum that this is norm, I called it quits with ASUS. I sold my router and got Ubiquity Cloud Getway Ultra - $129usd with a U6 Mesh - $179 and it's all modular. I can move around and set up my mesh any where I see fit and it gets constant updates adding features and fixing bugs. Wifi for me is stable and their interface is so feature packed with VLANS. Not saying it's perfect but their forums are always active with support trying to help. Unlike here with someone trying to tell you that you're using it wrong and justifying why ASUS support is terrible and you should wait. Wish everyone luck with those products. Even saw they put a statement apologising for there terrible support.

Hope you find the grass greener for a while in Ubiquity land. :)

Asus routers are incomparable, IMO. Particularly with RMerlin firmware. Your experience is not the norm with them. ;)
