Out of curiosity, what makes you think there won't be future firmware update for your router?
if 3006 is the prefix for the 5.0 base, seems like asus already released that code for the gt-ax6 back in august. All new Asuswrt-Merlin Asuswrt 5.0 based firmware is for BE-class routers only. When and if GT-AX6000 (and the others the same generation hardware) will get new base Asuswrt-Merlin is to be confirmed later and depends on when and if Asus provides workable Asuswrt 5.0 GPL. Some of the flagship models like GT-AXE16000 and ZenWiFi ET12 Pro still don't have official Asuswrt 5.0 release.
I would look at RT-BE86U or RT-BE88U if purchasing new router today. At least they have confirmed new base Asuswrt-Merlin coming.
no not you Tech to many routers with similar names , it is getting confusing trying to keep upif 3006 is the prefix for the 5.0 base, seems like asus already released that code for the gt-ax6 back in august.

"Code" and "GPL" are not the same - @Tech9 is correct here.if 3006 is the prefix for the 5.0 base, seems like asus already released that code for the gt-ax6 back in august.

seems like asus already released that
ASUSWRT 5.0 came out in June 2023 for the GT-AX6000 (3.0.0.6.102_21514), three further updates have followed, the last this month, but that doesn't mean a GPL dump of the source code is available even all this time later, although it would perhaps be a surprise if they hadn't done something by now?if 3006 is the prefix for the 5.0 base, seems like asus already released that code for the gt-ax6 back in august.
