I just ran the update this morning and have/had a WAN issue. I've got dual WAN failover configured. It has been working great since last update, not so much before that update. I finally found that the Dual WAN settings were changed to USB not LAN port 1. This was not reflected on the network map page. Fun!
 
Just figured out they seem to have resolved the OS port labels not matching the chase labels. LAN port 4 (chase) was LAN port 1 (OS). This might have caused the Dual WAN settings to flip to USB for the secondary WAN.
 
How are your ping's, I have a Netgear R8000 and I am getting almost 1% loss rate when pinging to my M9 over WiFi 5Ghz 80Mhz. When asked about this from tech-support they told me it was normal for Xstream. Now I dont understand how that can be possible since xstream would result in SSID change and thus full signal loss not packet loss?

Anyway I am testing ping using "Ping tester from AutoBAUP" with the following settings:

Test interval 1000ms
Buffer Size 64Bytes
Time Out 1000ms
Test Continually

Will make a dedicated thread for the issue but wanted to ask you people first.
 
hi guys

anyone got the issue where the time based access control in parental control do not work in that you can add clients to the list but once added you cant assign times , eg on the 87u it turns a light blue to indicate allowed time , on the 3200 it does nothing

Hey guys, how does this RT-AC3200 compare with the RT-AC87U?

I've had the AC87U for just under a month, and the 5Ghz wifi is a little annoying.
At this point I can still exchange it for the AC3200, so just wondering if it has similar issues or if it's worth the swap?

I'm hoping that it has less problems since it uses Broadcom and not Quantenna if I'm not mistaken?

no problems with 5 ghz on the 3200
 
Stability has been fine. I am running with common SSIDs, smart connect is off (for now).

One issue I would like to solve is the throughput to my son's laptop.
With the AC68U I had before I could get 400-450Mb/s when copying a large file across the network. Now with the AC3200 it hovers around 200Mb/s, max was around 320Mb/s. This is using 5G-1 band.
There have been no hardware or driver changes made to the laptop (has an Intel 7260 AC).
I do wonder if the 5G-2 radio has impact on the 5G-1 radio (and vice versa).
 
Damn just noticed this in the log. CFE is 20.0.3, F/W is 3.0.0.4.378_5343.
Router seems to working ok, what the hell is going on?
EDIT: ok more info. I now know that this happens if I use the 'REBOOT' button on the GUI. A power cycle does not produce this error.

I am looking to upgrade from my RT-N66U router due to adding 2 more people to my household with a lot more people accessing my network and me having to moved rom ground floor to my basement.

Will this router help with coverage over the N66U? I have a 1600sqft house not including the basement. The basement is probably about 1400sqft. The router is located on one end of the house where as my bedroom in the basement is located on the opposite end. I don't have a good place to put my router in the middle of my house that's not protruding.

Could I use my N66U as a bridge/extender with the new router for better coverage in my basement?
 
I sent back my ac3200 because of the frequent disconnect and reconnect on the WAN side. I bought the ac3200 to replace my ac87u because of the 5ghz issue but the WAN disconnect is a bigger issue.

Ac87u is solid except that i can't use my galaxy note 4 on 5ghz because it keeps disconnecting, other devices works fine on 5ghz. Hopefully the next firmware update will fix this.
 
My ac3200 has been fine since day 1, way better than 87u which had loads of issues.. Range is great, but you could use the 66 as an ap.. I use a AirPort Extreme for that on my network where I have interference that reduces signal.. Works well...

im on the RT-AC66U thinking about upgrading, we have a 5000 sq foot house, and lots of devices, the wifi range and connectivity is lacking with my current one, 3 floors in the house. worth the upgradde to the 3200?
 
Does anyone know how to force it to use a particular 2.4ghz channel in smart connect mode? Mine is trying to use one that clashes with both neighbours while 1 & 11 are empty.
 
Firmware Version 3.0.0.4.378.7838 has been out a while now.
Didn't have any problems with previous versions other than some spurious email notifications from the trend engine which were resolved by resetting the router and re-entering the settings.

Since this latest release both my Z3 and Z3 Compact intermittently lose internet connectivity. They both stay connected but no net access, eventually resolves itself about 5 minutes later. My Dell Latitude work laptop is also having problems - it connects ok but again no net connectivity at all - looks like a DNS issue as it keeps 'resolving host'.

Anyone suffer anything similar with the latest release or is it just me?

Don't think Merlin loves this AC3200 router as much as my older one lol - miss the frequent firmware updates.

I updated to the latest firmware "3.0.0.4.378.7838" and have not experienced any disconnects yet. I am finding this version to be more stable than previous. Was getting frequent disconnects prior and I am using smartconnect.

It's just intermittent internet connection on some of them, and the dell laptop however gets no internet connection at all (even though it connects and stays connected to the router fine).

Everything works ok using a wired connection, just wireless playing up in this version.

Totally misread that haha.

My thinkpad which has a dualband ac adapter did have no internet connection as well after the upgrade with full wireless connection to ac3200 but everything worked fine after I rebooted the thinkpad. I haven't tested my other devices but I'll let you know if I experience anything else.
 
Done some more testing - The Dell laptop refuses to gain internet connectivity despite whatever settings I use (2.4 radio)
The Z3 I have connected to 5G-1 radio and works fine now - the intermittent loss of internet connectivity (not wireless connectivity) is only apparent on the 5G-2 radio. Maybe something to do with AC connectivity? As the second 5Ghz radio is set to AC only as standard - not sure of this though.

It was all working fine till this latest firmware :(

In the meantime I have recieved a useless response from Asus to feedback submitted for a problem that existed about 4 months and three firmware versions ago LOL!!
