Asus RT-AC66R- Wifi question

New Around Here
So I upgraded my internet to the 100 download package today.. When I plug the Ethernet straight into my laptop I get the max speeds, when I use WiFi I only get half the speed averaging around 50.

Any tips to get faster wifi speeds? Would a new router fix this problem?

Need more details. What's the wifi card you are using? At what speed is your wifi connecting to the router? If your computer only has a crappy 150 Mbps 2.4 GHz card, then a new router won't do anything to help - the problem being the wireless card in your computer.

Ok, so I think I figured out the problem.. I did more testing and I connected my iphone 6 to the 2.4ghz that it had always been on and was maxing out at 50 the same as my laptop.. So connected it to the 5ghz network and I'm getting the max speeds out of it. So I'm guessing it's just my laptops wifi card and that's the max speed I can get from it. I also connected my xbox to the 5ghz and am getting around 80mb.
