ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.374.4561 is out

I will upload a test build of my FW that's based on 4561 but with the 374_583 wireless driver. Since I got only one reboot in a week of testing here, I'm unable to determine if this will fix the issue or not.

Give me a few mins to finalize a build of it.

My uptime on asus official 4561 was over 2 days and suddenly during playing an online game I had a reboot.

Is it related to time zone server or something that ntp 637 ? Wrong hour on router and server or router and computer ?

Those of you who are able to easily reproduce the router reboots, can you give this build a try?

You shouldn't need to do a factory default reset - just flash it like a regular update. The one thing that might not work as expected if you are coming from the Asus's original FW is OpenVPN, as we encode our keys differently.

Only bought my AC68U last week and thought I was paying (through the nose) for the best. However since updating to 4561 on Friday it's rebooted a number of times. Feeling a bit gutted..

Config -
PPPoE connection
No USB connected
2.4ghz and 5ghz WPA2 (identical SSID's)
2.4ghz Guest WPA2
Parental Control enabled

My uptime shows 2 hours so it did crash while I was out, with NAT Acceleration = DISABLED. Back to the drawing board. Moving my Intel Wireless back to 2.4 and testing again, before I try your build Merlin.

Edit: Found new v16 intel drivers, was on v15 before.. testing those first.
Eidt 2: Scratch that, v16 does not support my specific NIC, even when I force it. Staying on v15 but going back to 2.4.

Can anyone else confirm or deny the statement above. I made this slight boost in power for my furthermost locations based on what I saw with inSSIDer.

If you telnet into the router and run the following commands you will see...

# wl -i eth1 txpwr1

TxPower is 127 qdbm, 31.75 dbm, 1496 mW Override is Off

# wl -i eth2 txpwr1

TxPower is 127 qdbm, 31.75 dbm, 1496 mW Override is Off

You will see this does not match the default pwr level in the GUI. It is configured to allow the driver to select the power level dynamically.

Dont be worried i flashed Merlins firmware the second my bran new 68U was turned on did not even try the stock asus firmware. Using Merlin 39_0 and have not had ONE issue with a up time of 10 days and counting.

The RMerlin firmware is more official than the Asus releases, for me.

Since the fix that it implements would directly help you; I think this is the best thing to do.

Especially as you can simply flash back to the previous firmware if you wanted to.

I don't think that there is any worries for bricking an Asus router, at least not with RMerlin's firmware which follows very closely the official Asus builds (as they also follow the fixes RMerlin implements too).

I've reviewed 7 pages and based on very limited dataset (3 people!) - that's the next area to consider.

Yes, I have the stock 374_979 FW load and it looks like 10 days since "I" caused a reboot. I am using a guest network 2.4

Yeah, something seems busted with that command. Both of mine give me the same values as above, but they are not set to default, not even close.

It may be configured to adjust the power level dynamically (I too believe that) but setting specific settings for Tx power still makes noticeable changes in throughput and range.

It may be because it sets a different 'minimum' power level or power savings level in the driver?
