My RT-AC68U has been periodically rebooting on the past two releases (4422 and 4561).

I am running as an Access Point with IPv6 disabled, the 5GHz radio off, and no Guest access enabled.

2 days and 18 hours with no reboots.

No ipv 6 is used.

Using both 2.4 and 5ghz bands simultaneously.

Go with 374.40-alpha4, since it has all the recent security fixes in it.

OK - Will switch over (so far 14 hrs on 374.39 without a reboot.)

FYI I have 3 SSID's Guest (5 & 2.4ghz), a 5ghz and a 2.4ghz one. I also have 2 x 66u's acting as AP that I will upgrade from 374.39 to 374.40-alpha4 as well.

Updated to Merlins 3.0.0.4.374.40_alpha6 last night and 15 hours later, had my first reboot again so does not look like a wifi driver issue.

I too also have a Guest SSID active but no ipv6.
Using manual assigned ip addresses as well as dynamically allocated ones.

Notice in the log that there is also a lot of the following but I think this is normal right?

dnsmasq-dhcp[2646]: DHCPREQUEST(br0)
dnsmasq-dhcp[2646]: DHCPACK(br0)
dnsmasq-dhcp[2646]: DHCPINFORM(br0)

Last entries from my log before reboot (mac addresses removed)

Happy to test - at present I'm trying - 3.0.0.4.374.39 (Merlin build) on the 68 (same version as my 2 x 66's and they have been running for days/weeks... but are being used as APs)

Running 374_39 here as well on the 68U up time is 11 days and counting not one issue..

Yeah - I get heaps of these on my Main Router

I also get a bunch of these on both the 66u logs that are used as AP's

So if Guest Network is not the common factor, how about everyone having 5ghz enabled?

This was in the 4432 Release Notes -- so maybe something broke here and impacting everyone and not just EU users?:
5. Supported EU 5Ghz DFS channel.

Just wondering is there a reason folks are sticking with a broke firmware ? Merlin build 39 has no reboot issues and is stable why go through all the headaches of using busted firmware just flash 39 and be done. Is there something in the Asus firmware that Merlins dont have ?

I was thinking the same thing. One thing to test it. Another to wait for it to be fixed. :)

I know one thing for a fact Asus had better be glad Merlin is doing what he does because i just bought my 68U 11 days ago and had i been stuck with a rebooting router and buggy firmware i would have already returned it and went with another manufacture. All though reading around i am not sure others are any better. Quality control really needs to be addressed before all these companies start losing there customer base. And again Thank you Merlin !!!

Connect to the router on an iPhone/Smartphone or iPad/Tablet and then walk outside and stream something, when the connection drops, you will see that the router probably restarted.

how do u define outside?
I use my ipad to watch Youtube every day, and my router works fine tho.

Basically, go out far enough where the iPad drops the connection.

This issue does not affect you if no one else uses the router but you, and you are inside the house, etc and have a good connection. But if you have other people using the router who are outside, or in an area with bad reception, it reboots.

You must disable AiCloud and make sure FTP Anonymous access isn't enabled if running 374.39. At this point, 374.40-alpha4 would be a better bet since I haven't gotten a single report of random reboots with it so far. It includes the 4422 security fixes, but is still using the same binary blobs (not just wifi driver but other components as well) as 374.39/374_583.
