Thanks for this thread. I had the exact same issue with firmware 3.0.0.4.374_4561. Went back to 3.0.0.4.374_583, and no reboot since that.
Hopefully ASUS will fix this annoying error soon!

We all do there are 1000's just waiting and waiting and waiting.
sorry but why i must fix errors/problems as a consumer with a custom firmware ? that's not make sense to me and i feel like a beta tester atm. i have tested and tried many of the instructions given to my by the Asus support but the problem is the firmware and must be solved by Asus themselves. I have paid a lot of money for the rt68u and the solution can't be to install a custom firmware!
after i've contacted the Asus support again, got no answer after a week.
That's frustating to buy such a powerful and expensive product and after one firmware installation the horror begins...
but i must say the reboots after setting to default become more less...max 2-3 times a day.
regards
If they have found the bug, surprised it would take two weeks to get a fix out! There's been some progress on this issue, and Asus is hoping to have a new release in about two weeks.

Seems like asus posted a new beta firmware: 3.0.0.4.374.4887 on March 27th.
http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=RT-AC68U&p=11&s=2
Anyone care to try it out?
I've flashed it, I'll keep you all posted.
I am having the same issue where my router is randomly rebooting. Good to know they are working on a fix. 3.0.0.4.374.4561. I also went ahead and sent an error report.
Just bought the router today. Same issue as everyone else. Random reboots every so often. I have had 2 in the span of 15 mins (in fact while researching this problem!).
Not good for such an expensive device. Will try the new beta firmware. Hopefully that fixes the issue!
