@DeMon, there is no point in waiting to flash RMerlin firmware on the router if that is what you want to do (as originally stated in your first post here). You don't learn to swim by imagining it. You jump in the water with both feet. You'll be able to test the new hardware equally well with stock or RMerlin firmware. Save yourself unnecessary duplication and only test the configuration you want to use the router in.
Sure, if you're curious, see what the new options are 3.0.0.6.xxx level firmware. But that is a five-minute side trip.
If your end goal is to use this router with RMerlin firmware (highly recommended), then flash it and test it in your network like that. Even further on point, I would rather test the newest 388.5 Alpha 1 (2nd Alpha 1, btw) than stock Asus firmware. An excellent firmware version and extensively tested now by many. See the link below.
If your point is to see how the router will perform with the features/firmware you expect to use it with.

Just a reminder to all that I've done 'dirty' upgrades on my main RT-AX86U since I bought it ~2 years ago today. And, I started on a 'beta' back then too. No issues on my network at all. Edit: and my speeds have stayed as fast as when I first reported them in post 48 (7 days ago).
