New Around Here
Good morning all,

I have an asus RT-AX88U router with merlin for several months and until today everything was going well. While wishing to switch to a new version of merlin, I carried out the factory reset and "patatra" (hello french speakers ^^). The basic configuration is going well and the login screen to the web interface is functional but once connected the layout is cut as shown in the second photo. I therefore no longer have access to the settings of my asus router. I tried with edge, firefox and chrome browsers and the problem persists. I suppose the problem is not with the router since when I bought it I didn't have this problem and the factory reset is supposed to put it back in the same state as when I bought it. Do you have any idea where this might come from?

Already thank you to those who can help me.

Lolou

There recently was a bug with the French dictionary file. Switch to English, and make sure you update to the latest firmware available, it should be resolved in recent updates.

Due to this bugged interface issue, I am not able to reach the setup menu. Is it possible to perform this procedure by ssh?

Oh no, I just realized that when you reset your asus router the SSH mode is deactivated. Again I cannot reactivate it since the web interface is inaccessible :'(

Hello, I managed to solve the problem by using the Asus firmware rescue utility and installing the latest version (RT-AX88U_3.0.0.4_384_9107). However, when I install Asuswrt-Merlin firmware with the latest released version (RT-AX88U_384.18_0) the problem reappears. Is it possible that this is a new bug?

@Lolou try the 384.19 Alpha 3 version released last Saturday to test for your issue. The 384.18_0 version you're using is from late June of this year.

Note also that a reset to factory does not restore asuswrt firmware. You have to manually install Merlin FW or Asus firmware to switch between them. Similarly, it doesn't "roll back" the version to whatever it shipped with, or what was subsequently loaded. It simply clears the memory and resets the settings / configuration to default values.

I can't find firmware version 384.19 in the sourceforge Release and Beta folders of rt-ax88u. Is it elsewhere?

Thank you very much for this clarification! I thought that the reset rolled back to the factory firmware  That's why the reset didn't solve my problem.

You can find the 384.19 Alpha builds here Do note that you also have the option to flash the OpenVPN versions in that folder.
