So I just upgraded my RT-N66U from Merlin's 372.31 to 374.32 build. Everything went great except for one little weird-ism.

Now I can't point my browser to https://<internal router IP>:8443 instead I have to point to https://<external dyn dns name>:8443 in order to login. Once logged in I validated that the option for enabling/disabling management access from the WAN is turned off.

Other than that, everything seems kosher.

Can you check on the Administration -> System page to confirm that on the LAN side you have HTTPS listening on port 8443?

If unsure please post a screenshot of that page.

Yes 8443 is enabled for HTTPS LAN

I tested it here and cannot reproduce the problem. Make sure you don't have anything else also using port 8443, or a port forward configured that would redirect connections to that port.

Could also be a browser issue where it disallows connections to local IPs with an untrusted certificate.

So that's where it's weird... before the upgrade I could go to the local IP. Now after the upgrade I get the following message when going to the local IP, regardless of browser or endpoint I'm coming from.

Settings have been updated. Web page will now refresh.
Changes have been made to the IP address or port number. You will now be disconnected from RT-N66U.
To access the settings of RT-N66U, reconnect to the wireless network and use the updated IP address and port number.

Are you by chance behind a proxy in the browser?

No, I'm on a direct connection to the router and outbound to the internet, both wired and wireless. I've also tried dropping the wired and just getting to it via wireless with the same results.

Hi,

I do not know how to explain it properly or look for it ...

I have in the attic a Win 7 as a server and a second Win 7 PC as a client. Earlier without RT-N66U, the server woke up itself. Now I have to wake him always in the browser with WOL.

is it possible that something is blocked?

best Regards

Same here, but i'm using .31.3beta firmware.
I'm getting this message on safari after saving settings.
No problems with firefox.

I had this problem in Firefox. What helped in my case was to go to "Options -> Advanced -> Network -> Offline Web Content and User Data" (in Firefox) and to remove all data stored locally by the router.

Interesting... when I tested under multiple browsers I tried Firefox (my default) and IE. Today I installed Chrome and it worked just fine. So I suspect it may be some Offline Content as you're suggesting.

Can anyone check to see if WoL is working? I am not having any luck after upgrading to .32 from .31 release. Thanks!

I've been using it on .32 and it is working fine for me as well ( Waking up a mac and windows computer)

It's also working fine for me. Check your computer's NIC settings, especially if you did any driver update as it might have ended up disabling the option allowing power management events to be generated by it.

sorry if this has been asked but i'm still on 270.26 and i was wondering if there was any reason for me to upgrade to this if i just use the router for straight up routing? i don't use any of the fancy bells and whistles. mostly everything is working fine for me but was wondering if i would get better speeds with this latest fw.

currently, the only real issue is that 5ghz doesn't seem good at all for me. seems to drain the batteries on my devices really fast and also the range isn't good. but thats probably because of my walls. i ended up not even using it and just have it turned off.

just wanted to see if it was worth wiping out all my settings and upgrading to this. any input would be appreciated. thanks!

I use it for basic routing and tried both firmwares and they both worked about the same. 5 GHz band is really short on range no matter what firmware I use. just going to the next room with a Samsung galaxy S4 and it loses 1 bar in signal. I would say stick with which ever one you feel comfortable with. Good luck!

I upgraded from 3.0.0.4.270.26 to 3.0.0.4.374.32 and now the router is not stable. It hangs about every 24 hours or so. By hangs, I mean it cannot be reached wirelessly or by wire. This is new behavior as the old firmware version was rock solid and I never had to reboot the device ever.

My only recourse is to power cycle the router. Of course, system logs are wiped in that event.

I can start the syslogd on my NAS box to receive logs, but I cannot determine if or how the RT-AC66U can send logs to a remote server.

I'd love to help troubleshoot this, but I have no idea how to get useful debug info or logs off the router. Thoughts?

Just curious if you set your router back to factory defaults/cleared the nvram and then entered your settings manually after upgrading your firmware? If you didn't, that may be the cause of the problems that you're seeing.

No, I didn't do any of those things... If that is required for each upgrade, I won't be upgrading anymore... I mean, manually entering settings?? In this case, it wasn't broken so not sure why I tried to fix it. Stupid move on my part... So, I will do as suggest here and see if I can get back to a stable state.

Thanks...
