Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.8_4 is now available for all Wifi 6 models.

Code:
3004.388.8_4 (17-Nov-2024)
  - CHANGED: VPN killswitch will now only be active if the
VPN client itself is enabled. If you stop/start
the client yourself over SSH, you need to also
             update the enabled/disabled nvram setting.
  - FIXED: Security issues in AiCloud (backports from Asus)
  - FIXED: CVE-2024-2511, CVE-2024-4741, CVE-2024-5535 &
Implicit rejection for RSA PKCS#1 in openssl
           (backport from Ubuntu by RSDNTWK)

The ROG version of the AX-6000 is missing. It wasn’t in the _03 beta either but I thought that might have just been because it was a beta. Any chance we could get it for the final _04?

It got skipped because the 3006 firmwares were compiled at the same time, and ROG image building is disabled for 3006. Nobody reported it during the test stage, so it got skipped again during the final build run.

I'll think about it, but it's unlikely to happen since a lot of manual work would be required to do that. Unlike the regular build process, this cannot be automated and I would have to manually do it for every ROG models, plus manually publishing everything to download mirrors and the website.

I was going to say the same thing, but if it's too much work for you, the standard version is fine.

Was going to chime in on this as well for the AXE16000 - I've just become used to the ROG interface and I like it more.

But I do understand. Thanks for the update and your work! I look forward to getting back on the ROG theme next release.

Think might be a bug for QoS, the download seems to apply and stick, the upload either doesnt appy or stick or both?
Same issue as previous version

Dirty upgrade on RT-AX88U Pro from 3004.388.8_2. No problem(s).

For some reason on 4 routers - two different models, the inbuilt manual updater stopped working a couple of firmware's ago - but wondering if that is to do with the fact I moved from fast cable coax internet to slow telephone copper FTTC with only 7mbps upload whilst I wait for proper FTTP as I didn't want to commit to 18 month re-contract with cable company when FTTP is imminent. It seems to just get stuck on "Applying Settings" and times out and reboots the router.

Using the add-on MerlinAU, all of them updated successfully using that, and no issues. That is 3 x RT-AX86U and one RT-AC86U.

Went from 388.8_2 to 388.8_3 and most everything was fine. Have had problems with IoT devices namely a Water Heater, a Smart Bed and an Echo Plus that were running fine before, chalked it up to the devices because all but the Water Heater, after a reset/reboot connected fine. The Water Heater, no matter what I tried or how mant times, it would connect for only a few minutes then drop. Leaving it and the ability to manage it via the app, in a funky state (best summarized technical term I could fathom right now). Since nothing in the change log mentioned WiFi or wireless, didn;t pay too much attention to my IoT connectivity issues.

This morning, automatically updated all to 388.8_4 via MerlinAU. Thinking worst case, I could revert back to 388.8_2 and restore the BACKUPMON's bakups on all three if my issues continued.

Glad to report after the upgrade/reboot of the Roter and Nodes, EVERYTHING connected without intervention (or funkiness) and are working 100% and the Wife is enjoying a warm shower ;) 🤣

(Edit: and signature updated and I live another day 🙂)

AX68U upgraded fine. My AiMesh node seems to be either refusing the OE Asus update or not reporting the update properly but that's a different story.

Hi @RMerlin,
Can you please provide an example on how to update the enabled/disabled nvram setting programmatically when starting and stopping vpn via ssh?

I'm on RT-AX86U.

Thanks!

After more than 105 days with the solid version 388.8_2, update to 388.8_4 without reinitializing, as this is a new minor update.
So far, so good. Thank you Merlin.

Thanks all working well , have yet to update the AXE1100 that will stay on the 388 release AX 1100 pro is updated . This Really Old Guy does not miss ROG since it is extra work for you , you do enough

Hello @RMerlin thanks again for your great work, running the new firmware on my XT12, upgraded from 388.8_2 with no issues. The main node runs Merlin and the AiMesh remote node is running on stock firmware (recently bumped by Asus to 3006 codebase), no issues at all, and since I've went that route the AiMesh seems more stable when the remote node runs stock fw. I've experienced some AiMesh disconnections in the bast running Merlin in both nodes. By the way, is there any chance XT12 will see the Merlin 3006 version anytime soon? Thanks!
