Ax200/ax88u AX upload slower than AC
Hi all. I have a ax88u on RMerlin 386.2_4
My ax200 clients (4 of them) are on 22.50.1

2.4ghz on chan6
5ghz on chan36
160mhz enabled.


IF i set the AX200 to AC
Ax20 clients
Download from NAS 48 MB/s
Upload to NAS 96 MB/s
On the wifi channel list on asus page it states 1733.3/1733.3
The windows os will state 1.7gbps


IF i set the AX200 to AX
Download from NAS 48/s
Upload to NAS 18MB/s
On the wifi page list it states
2401.9/229.4
The windows os will state 229mbps

That said wifi6 phones like note10 only do 877/877 on either ax or ac mode.


I tried rolling back to original ms drivers
I get 59mbps upload

I don't have 2nd AX router to double check

I am not running any mesh but I do have a AP that is connected via cable for legacy devices. But I have disabled the AP and it doesn't make any difference.

I can't figure out if it's ax200 drivers problem or ax88u problem. I haven't resorted to previous firmware

Have you tried a different Control Channel?

Have you 'copied' the settings from your old router (directly or manually)?

Have you tested with a new SSID and password (use the Guest Network to test new SSID's)?

When was the last time you did a full reset to factory defaults on the router and then minimally and manually configured it (without using a saved backup config file and/or 'blindly' copying old settings that once worked from a previous router/firmware combination?

Have you tried a different Control Channel?
when I first got the ax88u. i tried all the channels 1 by 1. and found that ch36 worked best.
I also found out that when I had the AC3100, 149 onwards channels would not work as I was within 15km of the airport. For some reason, channel 100++ onwards on 2x ac3100 and 1x ac3200, the 5G would not be detected by any devices.
When I first got the AX88 a few months ago, I also set it to CH36. I was able to get 2400/2400 @ 105MB/s. currently based in shanghai china.

copying as in open both screens and manually typing the settings. that's what I did.

I do have "guest SSID on all the time for my IOT and guest devices. as the guest networks dont have access to LAN

the main pain of the router config is the DHCP list. and AMTM's diversion lists. so you would recommend I reconfig it from scratch?
so it is in your opinion that the fault lies with the router and not with intel's drivers?

ok, I have tried reseting the router.
tried control channel 36 40 64 100 128 149 161
force set 160mhz only.
I also tried flipping and testing every switch in the 5ghz settings. but no luck
as long as the wifi6 mode is enabled my ax clients will only connect 229/2401.
if the device or the router is set to AC i get 1733 1733.
any ideas anyone?

ok. i solved it. a complete full HARD reset.. and manually type/select all the old settings.. and it's now 2401 / 2041 Mbps
