AX86U randomly drops 5Ghz band

This issue has happened with an AX88U Pro and now with the AC86, both running the latest 388.8.2 Merlin FW, randomly out of nowhere, the 5Ghz band will stop working for a minute or two, the 2.4Ghz band continued working fine, I don’t know if it’s a normal process, but why this happens, all my 5Ghz clients will get disconnected from the network, any feedback will be appreciated, thanks
 
Radio on Auto changing channel or radio using DFS channels detecting radar may cause this. Check your System Log.
 
Look at your 5GHz radio settings first. Use fixed control channel instead of Auto in non-DFS range and with 80MHz channel bandwidth. Non-DFS range is 36-48 and 149-161 if higher 5GHz band channels are available in your region. Messaged in System Log are usually coming from ACSD.

At the time of the event I have the following ACSD message: acsd: acsd_main_loop(1174): sync_id: 25824, status:1, misc.error/abort

This band is mostly used for range and IoT devices, find the best available bandwidth channel, lock it at 20MHz channel bandwidth. See what channel the router uses most often on Auto and lock it. This is the best channel and not necessarily 1-6-11. This will stop all ACSD messages in System Log and constant channel/bandwidth hunting. For better compatibility with IoT devices disable Wi-Fi 6 on 2.4GHz band.

Thank you, this is great information, indeed I use the 2.4Ghz as mostly IoT network, any recommended channel for 5Ghz?

See post #4 above. This is non-DFS range guaranteed to work, control channel - environment specific.
 
This is how it looks now, 2.4G IoT and 5G OI, the others are my neighbors, channel 3 was the one selected by the router when in Auto mode with 2.4G. I selected channel 40 for 5Gz, disabled 160Mhz.

The only option that wasn't available in Merlin was to disable Protected Management Frames, only Capable and Required, left it in Capable in both bands

The settings for your router model are similar and the expected result is also similar. There is no best settings, you have to find what works best for you.

@Tech9 are these AX86U (I am using it in AP mode) settings reasonably good for a house with 90% of Apple devices (phones, tablets, Apple TVs, HomePods) and a few IoT Ring cameras? Again thank you for all the help
 
Good for wide range of common wireless devices. This is the idea behind stability and compatibility settings.
