Giving up on this router, please help... I have the RT AX86U with 386_2_6, I also tested with the latest ASUS original firmware to date, 3.0.0.4.386.42840
Unfortunately my ISP does not provide Bridge support, so it is in a double NAT config with their provided router, customized Huawei AC2200, its a 1Gb giving me by LAN directly on the Vodafone router about 850mbp aprox, I connect the 86U and perform a speed test and gives me aprox the same values, so there is the good,,,,
The bad... even that I have restored to default settings with stock and merlins firmware, with no AI protection, no IPv6, just pure stock settings my wifi on the RT86U are "terrible" I also disabled the DFS bands, because I noticed that the vodafone router was in channel 52 alone with no other competing for wifi, so I shut it down, and placed the Asus router on the 52 channel, and comparing speed results the vodafone router always beat the asus router by at least 60 to 200mpb, a macbook pro 16 gave me on the vodafone router almost 600mbp while on the asus would rarely scratch 500mps, an ipad pro (no wifi6) same thing, fast on provided router, and 150mbp less on the asus. Most strangely on iphone 11 with wifi6 was the best performer giving me on both routers about 600mbs so even with wifi6 confirmed in the logs that it was connected in AX mode did not give me good results, I also disabled AX mode to test the wifi5 with no change in results, I changed the MUMIMO, airtime fairness, disabled universal beamforming . searched the internet for best settings, split the wifi channels, so I just turned it off... but if there is anything I can do besides storing it, please guide the way I tweaked many things so Im not going to much into detail .... I also changed the SSID and disconnected the devices and connect again...
