Which router do folks recommend that would work well in mesh mode with the GT-AX11000 which I'm using as my main Router.

Obviously I don't want to spend a ton of money. Also I don't really need it to have 3 bands as I use the 2nd 5ghz for gaming and all my gaming systems are either near the AX11000 or hard wired.

Rt-ax92u is the most obvious choice.
3rd band for aimesh link and other ax devices and other 2 for other WiFi clients working great for me over past few months.

AX92 works very well.*

* Caveat being that Asus can and will screw up the firmware at times but that will happen with most models.

I'm too using the AX92U pair with the GT AX 11000. bought it on amazon for £262 which it frequently drops to from £349.

I have the same question. I replaced my Asus 11000 router and mesh due to lightning destroyed them. I purchased a Asus GT-AX11000 Pro and the ZenWiFi XT9 mesh. The Mesh is not connecting all my devices, I have 26 wifi devices, 8 are Nest Cameras. I need large coverage as my home is a ranch, about 4000 sq ft. I run direct line from my router, under my house to my first mesh, that sends signal to my 2nd mesh in the master BR. Any thoughts how to improve? Thanks.

You bumped 4-years old thread and your new GT-AX11000 Pro router is not the same as the old GT-AX11000. Different hardware device running different software and your nodes choice limits the entire system to what was available in Asuswrt 4.0 firmware. The new Asuswrt 5.0 firmware features like VLAN and Guest Network Pro won't be available on XT9 units. You need nodes also running on Asuswrt 5.0 for that.

About how to improve Wi-Fi in an unknown place - there is no answer to this question based on sq ft only.
