Best gigabit switch with RT-AC68U?

JoQ

Occasional Visitor
Hi,

I have an Asus RT-AC68U router and I need a small 5-port switch in my TV-cabinet for my Smart TV, Xbox and Airport Express (Airplay).
Which switch will perform best?
I have Cat6E cables all over the apartment.

Should I pair it with Asus own switch to match it with the router?
ASUS GX-D1051/V3. Don't find very much information about it's performance.

The other alternatives are:
Netgear GS105E
D-link DGS-105

What should I choose?

Thank you in advance!

It doesn't matter. There is no performance difference in Gigabit switches. Buy based on price, warranty and brand preference.

Like thiggins says, there's no difference. I've tested high-end switches and low-end ones and I couldn't see a performance difference

What I would suggest is if you need a 5 port GB switch; get an 8 port version.

When you need to attach one more device to your network (with the limiting 5 ports); the performance difference will be remarkable with extra available ports. :)

I am generally with L&LD on this one unless you know absolutely for sure you'll never need more than 5 ports.

The price difference is generally only a few bucks at most and the power consumption difference is generally negligible (less than a watt, probably less than half a watt) between a 5 port and an 8 port (well, unless you have more than 5 ports occupied on the 8 port switch, then it'll use a bit more power, as you have more active ports).
