Hello

Without a RT-AC66U router, I get between 190 Mbit/s 200 Mbit/s downstream but if the router to the modem I get only 165 Mbit/s.

Have a Thomson THG570 Cablemodem.

My computer is connected using CAT 6 cable to the router and have tested it with Firefox 25 under Windows 8.1.

Under network settings my computer has a fixed IP address and this he has received from the router. Based on 3.0.0.4.374.34_2 Firmware.

Router Settings:

Jumbo Frame: On
HW Accelerator: On
WAN -> MTU 1500
Firewall: On
IP6v: Off
Enable DHCP server
WAN connection type automatic IP
WAN enable
NAT enable

Where is the worm in it?

Thank you

Hi,
Just a thought. Tried with QoS on or off?

GO to Tools -> Sysinfo, and confirm that it mentions that HW acceleration is really enabled. If not, it will tell you what is forcing it to be disabled.

I would also try with Jumbo frames disabled (on the router and one test PC) just to rule out unbalanced frame sizes through your network.

You may find that the outbound packets are fragmented by using jumbo frames, this may cause performance issues. If you do any real time gaming I'd suggest disabling jumbo frames.

Hi

This function is OFF, HW acceleration Disabled - incompatible with: IP Traffic
Why is this so?

I'm going to turn off the Jumbo Frames feature and then see if this has improved.

I have Jumbo frames enabled because of my Synology NAS.

Ok got the jumbo frames disabled but unfortunately I get the same result.

Speedtest: downstream 166 Mbits

even if Jumbo frames are enabled, the result is almost the same.

Hello

I have deactivated the IP traffic and then restarted the router again HW acceleration newly activated and the speed is now back extremely fast :)

Thanks for all the advice and support :)

HW acceleration requires the router to bypass certain parts of its firewall, including the part where IPTraffic must insert itself to count the traffic. That's why enabling IPTraffic will cause HW acceleration to be disabled.
