Hi community,

I got a 86U running 10.2 and recently updated my internet to 1 gigabits down service. Ethernet connected speed tests show 770-867 mbps download.

I got hardware acceleration and flow on. STP, jumbo frames, and QOS disabled. CPU on router goes to mid 80s to mid 90s during speed tests. Is that the best I can realistically hope for?

Thanks in advance.

I have seen some reports of less than advertised 1 Gbps speed from some ISP.
  • Who is your ISP?
  • Have you tried different speed tests to different end points?
  • Are you running speed test from Ethernet or WiFi connected device?

Fast.com, speedtest.net, and dslreports.com/speedtest all give their version of what speed you have.

Use them all and just get used to the quirks in each. ;)

The RT-AC86U is capable of near Gbps speeds, just like bearever notes.

Fast.com will be the one that shows that most consistently to what your ISP provides, not that that means anything, though.

While dslreports.com will show 925d/945u (Mbps) for me, fast.com regularly shows 1.2d/1.6u (Gbps). :)

Maybe once he's done moving, @JackYaz can figure out a way to average them out in a script?
