Can you revert to stock ASUS fw after Merlin?

Yes.

If you are on Merlins, you should probably reset your router, then just flash it with stock firmware as you wish. Back and fourth, shouldn't be any problems.

It's really a non-issue thou... you will not dislike Merlins FW... ;-)

Just to clarify; you should unplug all devices, USB and LAN cables (except the computer controlling the router) from the router, reboot the router, wait for a couple of minutes and then flash the firmware you want.

At this point is when you need to do a reset to defaults and a power cycle (not just a reboot from the gui; but a power button 'off' or pull the plug and wait ~30 seconds before applying the power again) and then manually configure the settings needed. If you have done this once before and saved a backup config file, you can use it here too after a reset to defaults and a power cycle as described above.

Either way; a new ssid is highly recommended (or 'forget' and re-associate each device's network connections each time you switch firmware).

Also keep in mind to power off the cable modem for at least 10 minutes when switching routers to properly get a lease from your ISP.

I think that's all there is to it. :)
