Channel bandwidth connecting problems?

Hey. I was wondering if on 5ghz i use 80mhz channel bandwidth , then i try to connect from devices that can connect at max 40mhz bandwidth on 5ghz.. Will it connect? Or not? Thx :) cuz on 2.4ghz even if i set 40mhz. The mac can still use it with 20mhz (mac always use 20mhz on 2.4ghz)

Thx :)
Cheers

Yep your devices that are only 40 MHz on 5 GHZ will connect no problem in the 80 MHZ mode although they will be using 40 MHZ mode. Just set the router to 80 and leave it the devices will use what they are capable of using.

Oh. U already try it? Thx :) btw. Low 5ghz channels will not affect speed right? . btw if we enable a/n/ac if ex A devices connect. Then when AC connect. Will the wifi limit the speed to A devices?

I just leave mine set to auto seems to work the best. As far as channels just use the one that works the best in your environment.

Yes it will work doing it right now. I am using the 5 GHZ band set to 80 MHZ and typing this with my N capable iPad mini. I have several N only clients and they all work great at 5 GHZ at 80 MHZ.
