The data Comcast says I am using is killing me. My cycle started over on the first and its only 3:47pm. According to their app they are saying I used 62GB so far. I have a couple data apps on my pc's and they numbers do not match up. I also have 2 Apple tv's. Could they be using a ton of data?
The numbers on the Traffic Analyzer do not add up either. They are much less, by far then what the app says. Is there any software I can install on the AC86U that will be a great job? I have tried searching this forum but seem to come up short. I am running the latest Merlin on there.
If not, what about a dedicated pc with NICS with some software that will record all the data coming and going?

Any thoughts would be great.
Thanks

do you use spdMerlin ?

spd Merlin runs on the router. on my Fiber connection, it was using close to 1Tb data/month.
but if you didn't install it, then it must be some client in your network.
UHD video can take up to 7Gb/hour

Cool.. Is there a KB on how to set it up on router?
I only have 1 4k tv and its not used much. Netflix is mostly used and I turned it down to 720p on their site for now. I am just trying to get an idea of whats causing this.
Thanks

i don't think you understood. installing spdmerlin would increase your data usage. i think you were looking to reduce your data usage, no?

Damn.. I guess I did.. Yes, I need to reduce. Actually, want to see what it is that is consuming so much.

Thanks

I assume you have an Asus router since you post in this tread.
It's time for you to turn on traffic analyser. It's not perfect, but it will give you a good idea in finding who is doing all that traffic.
62GB in one day is easy to reach. Some Netflix/Youtube/Disney+ with default settings can get you there fast.

Yes, I have the AC86U..I am using the traffic analyzer. Its showing I used 43.42GB since the 1st of the month for all clients. Its not even close to what the Comcast app is saying I am using. I started this post on 2-1-21 at about 4pm Mountain time. Since then I am now at 109GB. Its not 5am. Between then and now the app claims I used 47GB. I turned down the streaming settings in Netflix. One of the crazy things about this is, is that it starting happening about 3 months ago.
I cant believe in less then 24hrs I used over 100GB. I was at work for about 6 of those hrs.

maybe you can catch a glimpse of which client is busy, by actively looking at the bandwidth monitor page, under adaptive qos.

I have looked at that. When I add up all the hosts collectively it does not even come close to what Comcast's app is saying I am using.
When I can I am going to disconnect the LAN hosts and just the modem run and see what happens. Its not an easy thing to be with out.
