I have an Asus ac68u running asuswrt merlin firmware :)
Is there a way to ping/ port check a device on the network that if it doesn't respond it emails me?

Scenario is I use some powerline connectors to link up a home automation server across the house, once in a blue moon the powerline boxes crap out, usually when I'm away and then I have to explain to the other half a diagnosis process to find that it's sometimes these. If I had a script to ping the HA box and it stopped responding I'd know the link was down and to fix it ;)

The network solution is to get rid of the fragile link, especially for a home automation application... and your other half. :)

Very useful...

I remembered I already have presence detection for our iPhones that updates the HA system, I can probably tack onto the back of this to email me, just need to work out the email part.
