Does the Merlin firmware contain more security patches than the factory?

The latest firmware for the tuf 3000v2 was released on 7 February. Which one contains more security fixes? The Merlin or the factory one? Which one should I use if the security is important to me?

Merlin doesn't make firmware for the TUF-AX3000 V2. There is a GNUton fork firmware but you'll have to look to see how often he releases firmware for your model and what release it is based on. Then decide for yourself.

Merlin's firmware is based on GPL code supplied by Asus. He then applies his own changes, which may include security updates. So at a given point in time either one could be "ahead" of the other.

Security is important to all of us.

If you have a financial or national security reason for the highest levels of security, a home consumer router is probably not your best bet.

Consider OpenBSD or a dedicated security appliance, etc.

As for Merlin: zero security issues/breaches in many years of usage now.

Which one contains more security fixes?

Both Asuswrt and Asuswrt-Merlin are secure enough for home use given the users have adequate level of self-protection online. No router will protect from careless behavior unless access is locked down tight like in business environments. This is not something home users would like to have as user experience though.
