Download Master install problem - advice please

Hello,

I recently puchased a AC68U and installed merlin 378.55.

I'm having an issue when I click install for Download Master. When I select a disk it just says "The remote server is not responding."

How do I fix this? Any help appreciated, as I would like to install Download Master.

I am betting you did not do a reset to factory defaults after flashing the new firmware?

Do so now and manually and minimally configure the router to connect to your ISP and secure the router.

I am pretty sure Download Master is not used anymore.

I did follow the advice and reset to factory defaults after flashing new firmware, then set everything up from scratch. Although I will back up my settings and try this again, and report back, just in case.

Is there a reason Download Master is not used anymore? It's mentioned in the changelog as recently as 378.50 Beta 1 (25-Jan-2015). (Does something else take its place?) Cheers.

Sorry, don't use it at all. I think there is another called Transmission?

Hope someone else comes to help.

Glad to say that resetting to factory with minimal config, has overcome the difficulty installing Download Master. Have a great day.

I had to uninstall master download (3.0.1.78) on firmware merlin 378.54_2 of AC68U.
Now I try to reinstall it and presents the same problem "The remote server is not responding."

Before performing a hard reset wanted to ask if you think the installation manual Optware / DM (of which I enclose the link) can also be applied on AC68U:

First, uninstall DownloadMaster.

Second, setup the Entware.

Now you can install Transmission or RTorrent for a better BitTorrent client.

I haven't looked at Downloadmaster in over a year, but at the time I was advising against using it for the following reasons:

1) Based on an outdated version of Transmission
2) Came with aMule, with no way to fully disable it - so it was sharing your USB disk by default to the whole world
3) Running a torrent client on a low-power device such as a router tends to negatively impact your router's performance and stability
