I keep seeing little statements here and there that the Linksys EA6500 has been discontinued:

- http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/products/14033-linksys-ea6500-uk/
- http://www.engadget.com/products/linksys/ea6500/specs/
- http://www.abt.com/product/65724/Linksys-EA6500.html

Yet, it's still for sale even on Linksys' site. Does anyone know for sure if the EA6500 has been discontinued or not?

Linksys told me it is discontinued. They are clearing stock.

Is this surprising given the change of hands at the top?

Is it surprising that a company discontinues a product? No. Managing product lines is standard practice.

Of course.

I was just thinking that is was even moreso obvious because the EA6500 was really the last Cisco/Linksys flagship, if I remember correctly.

I think the EA6900 actually was the last vestige of Cisco.

Discontinuations are more a reflection of product price/performance duplication and sales volume. Many key Cisco/Linksys folks moved over to the Belkin/Linksys team.
