Hi guys,
I just started gaming wirelessly unfortunatly and having some trouble. New home, new cable provider and never had this issue when wired to the router at my old place with similar bandwidth speed tests. I think the issue may be the provider but wanted to shoot something your way since Im not super network savy.
I have the netgear 3700 router on N mode, my computer now has the Dlink xtreme n (dwa-556) pci-e adapter. I also have full bars in windows 7 too. I typically get 20+Mbps, some peaks at 30Mbps too on what is a 10Mbps service (speakeasy and bandwidthplace). I have cought it when no one else was on the network and all computers off where I would get lag in a game and exit quickly (completly) and catch the speed test giving me results in the 7-10Mbps range. Only notice this with gaming, HD video on youtube/vimeo loads quick. My wireless antennas dont have such a clear shot to the router and Im wondering if although windows and the dlink app says its full bars, can there be a need for the dlink remote antenna setup for my adapter? Could there be a dirty signal even if its full bars? I am about 30-40ft away from the router and included a basic floor plan. Would trying remote antennas help or should I just increase to the maz 15Mbps, Im renting a room so I would need to convince the landlord to upgrade.
Thanks
