New Around Here
I have been experiencing extremely slow WiFi throughput on my N66U. The speeds range between 2-5 Mbit/s. I should be getting somewhere around 25-30 Mbit/s, as that is what I am paying for. When I run a speed test from an ethernet connected computer, I get the full speed. I am running the 3.0.0.4.374.33 release. Cleared the nvram before flashing. The router is connected to a SB6121 modem. I have cleared the nvram multiple times. I have also tried power cycling both the router and modem. There are no latency issues with the router, I get sub millisecond pings when running a traceroute. This occurs on both the 2.4 and 5GHz bands. Right now I am testing on the 5GHz band and a 40Mhz width to rule out channel congestion. I'm using WPA2-AES security. All the settings on the router are stock beside transmit power and wireless security.
This has honestly stumped me. I am wondering if it might be the location of the router. It is currently sitting on the top of a metal shelf. Could that be causing interference in some way? Thanks in advance for your replies.
