Heyy what is performance wise better for gaming that other devices dont interferee while play online games, to use smar connection rules in the wireless mode or default ?

I don’t understand why this is happening. Do other scripts still update and function properly?

The only remaining hard-coded rules in the script is half of the original VPN fix, and the rule to establish the Game Downloads tc filter. Everything else has been moved to the user-customizable config. I think most of the default rules are safe for new users. Advanced users who don’t want them can delete them. Despite the evolution of the QoS scripts, it is still a challenge to customize your own iptables rules, and potentially beyond some users’ skill or desire.

I do wish that the forum had the ability to have a wiki post (like I’ve seen on forums.macrumors.com), because I’m not that interested in curating a list of user rules. That’s where all the gamers and others with the experience come in. I intend to provide the framework. What everyone does within that framework (beyond the defaults) is best to come from community collaboration, like it has been since FreshJR disappeared.
totally agree.. just think the list could lessen or eliminate the need for peopel to request the same info over and over again form the comunity because we all know.. not all are friendly about that sort of thing.

As far as I know, last script that updated was Skynet, and that was a few days ago. Everything seems to be running OK (I'm not an expert though). I was thinking that perhaps it is time for a complete reinstall from ground up? I know there is a post somewhere here onhow to do a complete reinstall of Merlin. I just grabbed screen clips of all my screens.

However, I don't have time to do that now (too many people using internet to be down). I will try uninstalling and reinstalling first, to see if it makes any difference. I'll let you know.

I think it was Skynet, I uninstalled FlexQOS and it went OK, since I recently updated Skynet, I tried Uninstalling that and received a error message. I rebooted modem, reinstalled Skynet and reinstalled FlexQOS I'm not getting any error messages anymore I tried those other commands you gave me (touch etc) and not getting error messages also.

Was it a significant IP change (all 4 octets) or a minor change to the last octet that could be handled by a CIDR block? Chasing DNS names is a losing proposition and relatively incongruent with iptables. If it’s multiple IPs within a /24 or even a /16 CIDR, it may be worth going that route.

It was a minor one, so I may try that in the future. For now, still not fully working. Tried another file download. it was properly categorized, and at 60% minimum, it was only downloading at 20 MB/sec. Paused my download, turned off QOS, resumed and it instantly shot up to about 100-110 MB/sec.

That's one option to kill the WiFi based devices, but not ethernet connected. There's another thread about disabling internet access via the firewall which has my interest https://www.snbforums.com/threads/disable-internet-access-via-command-line.64861/#post-603102. I might see if I can fudge together a forced disconnect for 30 seconds every time FlexQoS restarts on my router.
Watching a different thread, it seems that the following command achieves what I need
Code:
conntrack -D

Testing this manually on my router does appear to have the desired effect of restarting all open connections so that they get correctly classified. I'm happy to experiment on my router if @dave14305 or anyone else can advise the best place to issue this command so it runs whenever FlexQoS is started, and whether I need a delay to allow FlexQoS etc to fully start beforehand.

Hey. I'm not advanced when it comes to home networking and ASUS routers, but I'm no beginner either. Enough that I used FreshJR the past few years, and now have been playing with Flex for the past month.

I'm noticing a problem with my entire network when I transfer data locally. I have a NAS, an Ubuntu server, and a Windows 10 desktop (and many other devices). When I transfer data from one of those to another, it transfers at full speed (which is great...) but: it grinds all my other devices to a standstill. It actually took me a few days to figure out that's what was going on with my Ubuntu server. I have Netdata installed on it and it alerts me about various problems. My Ubuntu server has been randomly (a few times a day) dropping a huge amount of packets, and then recovering. Finally figured out that it was when I copied (large) data over the local network. I was also streaming video to my television, and again, copying (non-insignificant amounts of) data over my network causes it to lag.

I don't know enough about networking to figure this out. When it comes to QoS, is that always between local and WAN?
I've been Googling, but all the posts I find are regarding people's local transfers being too slow. I kind of have the opposite problem, haha.
Does anyone know where I should go from here?

Im currently seeing some Error's inside my Log:

What do you see if you run: tc qdisc ls | grep "htb.*root"

And then: tc -d class show dev eth4 | grep "parent 1:1 "

And then rerun one of the commands from the debug to see if it gives that RTNETLINK error:
Bash:
realtc class change dev eth4 parent 1:1 classid 1:17 htb overhead 19 linklayer ethernet prio 7 rate 1638Kbit ceil 32768Kbit burst 3199b cburst 39985b
I'm assuming it's an issue with eth4, but maybe the joke's on me and it's br0, because something is happening to the br0 classes and filters between the initial delay (10s) and the time it wants to apply the custom TC rules.

Hi, I just installed today, thanks @dave14305 for the hard work.

I am trying to put stadia into gaming traffic rather than others, I add the remote port range 44700:44899 (TCP/UDP) to the iptables rules under remote port but it stays in others after I apply and I’m not sure what I am doing wrong?

Add a screenshot of your rules. Also...why not put a static IP on the device and make that IP go under the gaming category?

I wanted to add just the specific ports as stadia runs on a Chromecast, so if someone was to stream something to the Chromecast it would show in gaming as well.

What do the Stadia connections look like in the connection list? Could you just take any unmarked (000000) traffic from the Chromecast IP and call that Gaming?

Hi, if I add the untracked 000000 from the Chromecast it still shows in others.

Try running conntrack -F to clear the existing connections table. It may let iptables properly mark the traffic that was already established beforehand. If there is nothing else active in Others in the connection list, something else is wrong.
