How does the state of the code prevent it from being committed and uploaded to GitHub?

setup a github account

or encourage to join here and discuss how we can fix things.

He used to contribute to these threads and post builds publicly until he repeatedly lied about the timeframe when the source would be released, then stopped posting and instead moved to this formerly secret distribution method instead.

Yeah, cleaning, documenting the work to be well done it always takes a lot of time and is very boring. It is a thing that is not challenging the mind and usually is the last thing that is done in a project.

I really do not believe people continue to defend the nonsensical reasons for not uploading the source code.

Code cleanup? Not only is it not required, it is not asked for by anyone requesting the source. If the code is truly that "messy", then it raises concerns to me about the quality of the code itself being written, and with the closed source nature it prevents others from contributing to help make it better.

Documentation? Again, it is not required or asked for by anyone requesting the source.

Uploading the source to GitHub is literally this simple, with the only prerequisite being a new repository on GitHub being created (takes 30 seconds, if you don't believe me try it yourself!):

Code:
git commit -am "Initial fork commit"
git remote add origin-hggomes git@github.com:hggomes/asuswrt-merlin-hggomes.git
git push origin-hggomes master

I said that I don't want to get involved again in this subject! Please ignore my post!

Code:
git commit -am "Initial fork commit"
git remote add origin-hggomes git@github.com:hggomes/asuswrt-merlin-hggomes.git
git push origin-hggomes master

And if git was really so scary to him; he could just offer a tarball on request. That is as simple as creating a zip of the folder.

This is what RMerlin said:

Please, be nice. There's no need to turn this into a personal attack festival.

Primary reason for lack of source code is hggomes can't be bothered cleaning everything up, setting up a repo, and updating it. There is no reason to believe there is any malicious motives behind the lack of source code.

Hello! Firmware 380.57 had an issue.
There is no way to enable 802.11d wlan regulation mode!
Without enabling this feature, my devices gets wrong country code, drops down mcs index and speed at same level of router's tx power and rssi on client's side.

5GHZ 802.11ac test.
12m from router, directional 9dbi antennas.
( 585mbps @ 378.55.4 - country code: #a ) 700mw
( 243mbps @ 380.57.1 - country code: disabled) 1000mw

AC68U
Try on 70% not 100% - long range is coming with the cost of bandwidth.
70% now should have longer range than 378 version with 100%

Though there has been valid discussion about GPL violation and licensing of this firmware, I have not seen any offer to help HGGomes, such as clean source code up, setup a github account or encourage to join here and discuss how we can fix things.
HGGomes attempted to contribute and with help could work out any issues, hopefully its not too late.

I like your sentiment expressed here.

If hggomes is smart as perceived by users of his fork, he shall be intelligent enough to efficiently manage and share the source code.

Do people know what's a tarball? It's same as winzip the folder of his source that a 10yr old perhaps can do. Upload the zip file to mediafire. This is one way to share the source, and fulfil the obligation of GPL license.

I was try it.

This issue is related to country code broadcasting, when it disabled, my devices get country code from neighbours routers, it always different. It seems like many countries have different "MCS to RSSI" ratio map or some MCS indexes are locked, because even on old firmware I had good speed only with "#a" or "us" country codes.

channel 36/80mhz.

Yet it does not answer my primary question: how does the state of the code prevent it from being committed and uploaded to GitHub?

I don't know, I didn't mean to say it had (in this case). I was giving those as 2 separate examples of where we could help, not a statement of why the source was not available (in github). If I was not clear enough I apologise.

is there a hgg version available for the ac5300 to test ?

- There are some reports on the new driver causing issues (unable to connect/disconnects), specially on 2.4GHZ band.
This doesnt affect everyone but it seems reproducible on some specific devices.
If that's the case old driver will fix it.

Yes there seems to be. PM hggomes for a link.

If you set the Traffic History Location "Enable IP Traffic (Per IP monitoring) " to a yes and apply the AC68U will not recover
380-57-1-HGG-Final. (did a reset after updating firm ware)

tools-->other settings-->traffic monitoring

You have to reset the AC68U with power off --> WPS+PowerUP until the power led starts to flash...

this worked thru 378-56-2

AC68U running Johns fork V16E1 love it, Loaded 380-57-1 via Johns_V16E1 --> 53 .0--> 56.2 -->--> 380-57-1, reset and tested the Traffic History Custom set up to USB device instead of RAM

if you set the[ "Enable IP Traffic (Per IP Monitoring)" to a yes] upon "apply" the AC68U will not recover, you have to reset AC68u to default using WPS+Power Down and UP.

setting the Custom Traffic History to a USB2 or 3 device with "defaults" no problem...

I did error check the USB device... before and after no errors

Tested the Custom Traffic History "Johns fork V16E1 --> 378-53-0 --> 378-56-2" set the[ "Enable IP Traffic (Per IP Monitoring)" to a yes] and ["Monitor all IPs by default" to a yes] and ["Resolve IPs on active connections list:Can considerably slow down the display" to a Yes"]

this work in all previse firmware loads on AC68U

Loaded FW 380-57-2-HGG on AC3200 the set the[ "Enable IP Traffic (Per IP Monitoring)" to a yes]
and
["Monitor all IPs by default" to a yes]
and
["Resolve IPs on active connections list:Can considerably slow down the display" to a Yes"]

works like a champ!!!!! on the AC3200 BL 1.0.1.6

if it smells it good to go!

So yes, its available. I can't say in my name if it works fine, but as I tested all major hhgomes firmwares, they all work fine. Infact better than the original AsusWRT ones.
Anyway, if you want TX power I recommend using the 2.4GHz because has a wider range. It won't harm the router :)

I want to use 5ghz1 for another ssid and 2.4 with 5ghz-2 for normal ssid . and is it the same as rmerlin fw? And maybe reworked? And if we set the tx power 100% its 1Watt? And it wont fry the chips without any cooling? Thx

If you don't overclock the router it shouldn't harm it. You will find that this firmware will work better, I promise.
As a word of advice, reset the router before flashing and do another reset after you flash the firmware, and please don't import configurations. It will work better :)

But i mean. The wifi card will not fried by pushing the TX to 1Watt? And they say if u increase the tx so much and the antenna cant handle u will get so much noise making the signal throughput to low. Are u using 1W on the TX? What router u use? Thx so much :)
