No word from John in days, hope everything is ok on his end.
Hi John, I see Merlin is releasing the 49 final in a few days and was wondering if you have any new releases planned for the fork anytime soon ?My power button on my AC68U failed and i am back on my trusty N66U till i can investigate and purchase another router and dont want to use the 376 code due to poor power output. Using your V-6 right now and all is good just wondering if there was a new build in the near future.
Also will you be adding the new IPv6 implementation that Merlin has added to the new build ?
Asus's new IPv6 architecture, which replaces radvd+rdnssd with dnsmasq's new built-in router advertisement support and odhcpc.
My question is: If we gonna have issues with radvd+rdnssd with IPV6 and IPS's
in a couple of months or years if we stay with Fork versions.
Want to report back that, like merlin and others said I ran into security issues with sdk5 build. Could not search on Google due to sll errors, etc. Reverted back to the latest fork and everything works like a charm again.I am running the fork to get better WiFi range. I did also try SDK5 recently but Merlin made his view pretty clear here
Quote 'Older firmware versions are not safe to use, and a lot of bugs were fixed in addition to security holes.'
For now I will continue to run the fork - it seems to give close to SDK5 WiFi range without having to compromise security. In my case the WiFi range with the fork is sufficient
Quick question: Can I go from build 03j9527 to 06j9527 on my N66U without a factory reset afterwards?
I am running the 05 version of the fork - however I am not sure if this is a fork, Asuswrt-Merlin or Asuswrt question. Anyway I will post it here.
Are IPv6 only clients listed as connected 'Clients' on the router 'Network Map' tab and System Log - DHCP Leases
The reason I ask is that I saw an unknown device in System Log - IPv6 - IPv6 LAN Connected devices earlier today.
When I looked for the MAC address identified for the unknown IPv6 device it wasn't listed in either Clients or DHCP leases? If there was a device connected shouldn't it show up there as well as an IPv6 connected device
I am using WPA2 with a long random key.
A search for MAC address vendor came back with a 'Private MAC address'
It's gone for now after a router reboot.
Hello whether supported by "time machine" for asus rt-ac66u?
Interesting - it now shows up in the DHCP leases identified as an Android device. There are currently 3 authorized android devices connected - two phones and and an old Samsung (S3) phone which a family member is using as a WiFi device. It seems it is one of these.
Hello,
i am from the netherlands(timezone +1) and just received my rt-ac66u
since i am not to impressed with the power output(lower then my old netgear) i flashed the latest 374 fork version.
it seems better but i still can not select anything higher then 100mw in the 2.4ghz range.
i still get that annoying message about regulations
do i need to do something else to enable the higher output?
i also noticed that i have this message
* Remind: The System time zone is different from your locale setting.
my timezone is set to +1
where are the locale settings stored?
maybe this is the problem
thanks for helping out a newbie
You should be able to identify which one by the MAC address. Click on the name in the client status frame.
